I dont understand this thing people(not just you) have about Flynn, hes not some unknown plucked from the VFL/WAFL. Hes an AFL quality ruckman who has been stuck behind some very high quality rucks over the last few years. First Shane Mumford, then Kieran Briggs last year.
He is a clear upgrade on Bailey and is a more than servicable first ruck.

Midfield isnt amazing but its comparable to last year is what I meant.

Our defence should absolutely clean up, Larkey has been well held this year, even against much weaker backlines. Hurn was the Larkey matchup late last year and I expect TB to do an even better job. Hough is much better than last year. We will be fine
It’s not Flynn’s ability that’s in question; it’s his durability! 33 games in 8 seasons.

North have been beating us while they sucked though and we fell over the line at home against them with this lineup:

Admittedly Barrass and Gov down back is a huge boon but we are really not lining up much different

- Hurn, Bazzo, Hunt. Long, Hewett, TK, Allen
+ Barra, Gov, Yeo (struggling), Ginbey, Flynn

Our midfield is probably worse. Forward line probably slightly worse too even if Jake is back. Unsure how this is even possible, yet here we are.

Though they got no Mckay down back.

Last year Flynn wasnt injured, the 2 years before that he played 14/15 games per year.
Not an amazing run but not too that awful tbh.

His lack of games in 8 seasons is mostly due to being behind better rucks. His first 6 seasons were stuck behind Mumford, then 2022 was spent fighting it out with Preuss who is also a good ruckman who like Flynn has been stuck behind better ruckman most of his career, but far more injury prone. Flynn finally got a bit of a run at it last year until Briggs came onto the scene and was in AA conversations despite only playing half a year

It's crazy that people don't understand this, especially given opportunity is the entire reason he signed with us in the first place

,
If we are serious about winning a game in the wet talls come out and the likes of Dewar, Brockman, Culley come in. Players who can win a ground ball, add pressure and are not totally disadvantaged by the conditions.

Even Burgiel would be better than a tall in wet conditions down back.

Trew should get a full game as he is built for a contested game.

We have never been great at picking horses for courses.
This is Simmo likes sticking with trusty old Plan A

I can picture Snake and Hutchy being an awesome duo in the forward 50, both quick, agile and excellent in the air - could be a nightmare for defences with good supply.
Looking forward to watching him play. Ryan was building form, need some spark from others. Maybe we'll romp it in. Maybe we'll get whacked, you never know these days, and I don't think dick size determines the outcome of a game?

Woof. This has big "oppo poster will stealth-quote on their own board" energy.

I think whoever wins will do so by only a couple of kicks, and like the Saints game this will be close for the majority of the match. We are both sh*thouse sides and its gonna be a wet track.

Norf will be eyeing this off as one of their only "winnable" games of the season. Expect them to come out ready for a scrap, and every goal will be celebrated as if its a Grand Final.

I hope they do post it, maybe once before and once after we win would be good. They are a different level of bad imo 🤝

Not exactly a roll call of top flight ruckmen.
In AA conversations but Briggs takes over??
