We've got Lukosious, Georgiades, Marshall, Lord, Finlayson & Esava all capable of playing tall forward but i must admit Luko and Georgiades are the only 2 i have confidence in but there is enough depth there and maybe a Shanahan or Whitlock slide.

Do we need a chuck replacement? Or should we throwaway that playbook. Lord is the most obvious Chuck replacement.

That doesn’t make sense tho.

Cause if freo offered a much better pick than what we were offering why wouldn’t west coast just take that deal?

The only logical reason is because they think we would then take their player , Allan. In which case, they’re not doing the deal, and there’s no threat of doing the deal. So why would we have to do the trade?

Or they wanted to just screw Freo and give them no chance of getting Allan.

Last night a couple of people replied to my question why did we give up 45, said it was because Freo were interested in Berry and not Allan.

As I put in my post above about 40 minutes ago, Twomey said Freo would take Berry as he had us taking Armstrong at 16 and that if it wasn't Berry - If Bo Allan somehow was available he would be favourite, but it's nearly impossible to see happening unless Freo can get up the board, which it's tried. Twomey had Allan going at 11.

But I've now considered the following scenario. If Freo offered 34 and WCE were convinced it was for Allan not Berry they were after, they may have gone to Port and said we have got an offer from Freo for 34, what can you offer us?? Port knowing that Freo were keen on Berry, so Port not wanting to take the chance on losing Berry to Freo said, ok we can give you 45.

WCE then say that's good enough, we can block Freo from getting Allan, Port's pick isn't a hell of a lot worse than Freo's and Allan is a better player and a WA boy than the next WA boy or the next Victorian and we don't have to worry about the go home factor.

I'd trust Twomey's understanding of what Freo really wanted, more than someone on Big Footy.

Just loved all the tears/meltdowns after the Berry pick on our draft thread. It was GLORIOUS

Great pick up. I was watching him throughout the CLTs and Champs games and was adamant he is exactly what we need.

We wont be chasing after Pickett and throwing away endless 1st round draft picks now.

Our quest to draft small forwards is officially over after this draft, with a line up of young forwards in Berry, Anasta, Charleson & Barrett (confirmed after we moved to pick 94) for the next 10 years.

It was very funny watching our board melt after picking Berry over Reid, whilst the Freo board melted over getting Reid rather than Berry.

Hopefully, we made the right call!
