He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

But if he is going to extend for only two years, then it needs to happen soon.

Because if we go through all this media speculation well into 2025, it's going to stuff our season. And if he only extends for two years, then it will all start again by midway through 2026.

I think for players like Warner you find room.

Fremantle have a lot of really highly paid players as well and there is no suggestion that they aren't going to be able to make a really healthy offer.

Who knows when we can't see the salary cap, but I think we would easily be able to offer Warner north of $1mil a season. It wasn't that long ago we were throwing cash around town like Floyd Mayweather at Naughton and TDK.

We can dump Campbell, Amartey etc if we need . All i know is that Chad wants a flag with us before anything

In today’s world everything can be done over zoom. He would know playing golf with the eagles would get out and mount pressure on the club.

I understand he was not to know but at the end of the day timing is everything , whilst the club is dealing with a shock “resignation” from horse , the star player is playing golf with oppo admin

Nah, if another company calls me up and goes "hey while you're in town we want to take you to dinner and talk about your future" you know I'll be going to that dinner. Hell, I've even done it! Doesn't mean I was unhappy at my job at the time, but it never hurts to be wooed.

I've just resigned at my club and have had 3 offers from other clubs , but will do an executive role on oppo stuff

I am sure Chad's girlfriend would have loved the conversation where he said he wasn't asking for a trade because he didn't want west coast to give up a good draft pick for him.

I don't think he would care less what the deal is that gets him home if it comes to that.

Why though?

Everyone knows the WA teams will be chasing Chad, similarly clubs will be talking with players such as LDU, TDK, Rowell & Finn Callaghan, all who are out of contract at the end of 2025.

Occasionally hush-hush meetings (eg us with Franklin who the AFL wanted at GWS) make sense, but generally speaking I think the acceptance of player movement and, where applicable, free agency has changed the landscape and that there is little need for few, if any, clandestine meetings these days.

During the season just finished Clarkson actually came out and named Parker, Rampe, Viney, Wines and Callan Ward as players he potentially wanted to bring to NM. All who were in contract at the time.

Assuming Chad did in fact play golf with KJ and Don Pyke, as far as I'm concerned, so what.

He'll listen to offers from us, Freo & WCE and then make a decision, irrespective of whether he meets WCE reps on the golf course, at a restaurant or in an underground bunker.

Disagree, it’s a Great strategy by Chad ! Make us nervous and panicked so we fork out > $1m per year. Next up he should go out to the Burswood Chinese restaurant with the Freo team and post a few on Insta.

His job is to extract as much cash as he can while he can.

Give anything over $1mill on Warner's contract to Robbie Fox instead by way of apologizing for shortchanging one of the few blokes who stand up on grand final day.

One thing our club does very Well is operate in the shadows. No one really knows what happens inside the 4 walls and that’s the way it should be . They would be disappointed in the way Chad is basically courting the WA teams. It flies in the face of how the club does business.

I’m sure Errol, Logan, rowy, liz, etc all spoke to other teams in some capacity but it was never as brazen or become public knowledge as Chad going to crown with freo or plying golf with wce.

All other deals got done fairly quickly and with minimise fuss, the circus Chad and his management are allowing to go on is a slap in the face to the club.

I’m sure the happy clappers will disagree though

Also I know players are entitled to their time off so it’s hard to be super critical…..but gee a lot of other senior players have come back to the club early in some capacity….given the gf debacle again , you would expect most players to cut short their off season plans and at least appear to have the intention of making amends….. it getting wined and dined by sugar daddies
