One thing I don't quite understand about the social media ban is.... haven't the government heard of VPNs?

Do they really think teenagers aren't going to have a workaround on day one?

When i was in school we used to take the absolute piss out of the poor IT staff. Setting universal home pages to pr0n sites, installing games etc. Etc.

I guess a lot of the teenagers wouldn't have the money, cheap that it is, for one.

Nanny country.
Government should not be parenting.

Let’s not even start talking about pill testing at festivals and the mixed messages that sends.

I think this is the first time I've disagreed with you in 8 years XD

(of course it's not footy related haha)

(referring to the second half of your post)

(Brackets are kind of useless at this point)

You’re allowed to disagree at least once!

( You don’t think that drugs being illegal, but allowed at a festival because there is testing, is not a mixed message? When everywhere else they are illegal.)

(Then again, we have government approved “safe” injecting rooms, which also seems like an oxymoron I can’t get my head around.)

( Use of brackets intentional)

😉

I believe its more of an attempted vote gainer then anything else tangibly positive. Labor can turn around and talk about this victory by getting the libs on board and how such an easy change will protect your children etc..

Its an easy victory for them as the cost of living and housing issues are not easily solvable as they are both decade long issues and will be around for a long whilst yet.

As a rusted on labor supporter it right shits me though as being an incumbant post covid government its looking like itll be a change of government next election as this dumb country cant seem to remember who was in charge to actually put us all into this mess. Labor COULD be pushing through necessary but unpopular legislation and just wearing the brunt of an election defeat but instead we get easily defeatable social media bans and poorly proposed referendums.

Also Albo is a hawks supporter I believe and **** that noise ha.

I don't want to get too into the weeds on this on big footy (come find me on reddit :p)

Agreed it could be considered mixed messaging but the people at these festivals are likely doing it regardless right. If we can educate people and actually make it safer for them then I think that's pretty valuable. Prohibition and abstinence only eductation has a hilariously poor track record.

When the pills are tested, the scientists doing the work provide them with lots of information about what's in the drug, what a safe amount is, the right/wrong way to do it etc. I'll have to find the paper but when provided with a poor result (ie not what they were expecting or containing adulterants) most people literally throw out the drug too.

Places like the Netherlands and Portugal have these systems permanently in place and I think it's a much more sensible way of doing things.

the two most common legal drugs are arguably two of the worst drugs out there in terms of destroying your body and leading to all sorts of other issues like drink driving and domestic violence.

I think the world would be a better place if we substituted alcohol and tobacco for a frw other substances that seem to have a bad stigma for one reason or another.

Anyway back to the footy :p

Hey ... I am about to swallow 3 of these pills ... can you test if they are OK?

Yes certainly ... just sit over there and we let you know in a minute

A few minutes later .....

Hiya we tested your pills and they are contaminated with bad shit .... thanks for coming and we hope u have a fun day

Is that how it works??

I'm over it. It's done.
Clickbait pieces for the silly season.
Does anyone even care anymore?
He was our player. He's gone.

Still hope the "Hoks" see their a*se this season.

Kinda hope Battle comes out after the of contract all "So Sam and his wife are full of shit, I made a bad mistake..." but outside of that, he chose to wear that jumper so obviously not captain material and good luck to the man, hope the methane is great for him.

The whole thing seems a bit odd. I know the AFL is its own cocoon but it is really not an employers job to look after family, that's on the individual in the real world. I'm not sure I'd want my employers input into my family, they pay me to provide a service, that's where the relationship ends, I raise my own child and care for my own family.

Sounds like a crock of shit tbh. Love to know the real reason, because the Family Club wank is a smokescreen, and an easy answer. We'll probably never know.

Hawks are getting seriously easy to dislike though, with their cringe Hokball selfie thing, whatever that is, their Wizard Hats, and their utter arrogance. They're well and truly up there now.

If the club is providing free childcare. Free meals. Free transport etc etc for family members should that not be included in the cap and attract fbt

Went off them after injunction-gate. They had largely earned their chest puffing by always finding a way and were generally smart operators, but yeah, there's smart and there's Carlton levels of bullshit and Hawks stepped that line for me.

The bloke is on $800k a year. He needs meals, myki cards and childcare provided?
They obviously aren't wrong about the cost of living crisis...
