I wrote this on Pies board, may as well drop it here for consideration:

Seeing as this issue keeps raising its ugly head, I have a different take, I worry about naive young men living in the cosseted fantasy world of AFL...
I was watching video of Leon at today's training. Two words came to mind - osteitis pubis. I wrote a comment about his form some months back and thought that he was moving like he was injured and that something about the way he moved made me think it's osteitis pubis. It would explain a lot.
The more I think about it, the less convinced I am about this move. Supposing it's not foxing and Leon is dropped, who is going to deliver the goods in the forward line? The conversion rate has been a schemozzle all year. If we're dropping forwards for not delivering last week, then they're just...
Would love to have been a fly on the wall during the selection discussion.
I guess they had their reasons for the change but I'd have backed the same 22. The dumping of Leon is emphatic so there must have been something going on. Team instructions? Body language? Attitude? Injury?
Bad luck...
Re: Am I the only one who feels the coaching staff is leaning towards keeping leon in the side again
The coaching staff, unlike the rabbiting squawkers, probably aren't looking to pin the draw on one player.
Toss a coin, did Leon save it or cost it? He wasn't on his Pat Malone in not being at...
If we'd had 1% better delivery to the forwards and 1% better return to the forwards we'd be the premiers today even though we had about 12 players who will be relishing the chance to play the way they would have liked to on Sat. If the Pies weren't such a good team, that would have been the flag...
To be fair to our small forwards, the forward line was being flooded which limited the opportunities for the smalls and most of the delivery was aimed at Cloke and Dawes who couldn't capitalise. They both missed several gettable chances each. We should have been about 12-5 to about 5-3 for the...
I thought we had a lot of sub par performances.
Other than Daisy and Johno to a lesser extent, the on ballers and midfield weren't at their best. Swan, Pendles, Wellers and Ball were all quiet by their own standards. Stains wanted the ball more and went in hard. Plenty of room for improvement...
The only team I could barely stand losing a flag to is the Dogs.
Having said that, you need to harden up. This isn't Queensbury rules.
I'm reminded of "Danny from Droop St" with the Couldabeens, the negativity is pervasive. When will you unleash the animal? Where is the Dog?
We've got one...
I dunno, I thought he's been pretty handy. Not BOG but useful. Not the quicksilver we saw earlier this season but maybe just more mature and playing to MM's specs?
It looks like Diddles has had two hits on his shoulder from what I can tell but neither is enough to stop him. Here's hoping the...
How crap is that?
Got the idiot box on delay and lap top with "real time" match centre on in the lounge room and trans on ABC out the back for durry and can runs.
I blame the Liberals for privatising Telstra ;-) Where the bloody hell is that NBN?
No passengers in the team though. I thought...
It's pretty obvious that footy is a lot more skilled in the wet than when I used to play but I was just wondering whether those old "wet weather footy" fundamentals still hold water (forgive my puns)?
As I recall the basics were:
Play in front - a wet ball drops short. Rove at the back on high...
Yeah but looking at the possible ins, they're mainly backmen. Obviously Dids comes back but I'd be trying to keep L & B in the mix. Also LeRoy in (I guess that's Josh in reserve in case of injury for Leroy or Jolly).
Maybe Wellers is out. That would be Dids covered. For the backline. Presti in...
Leon fed Blair at least two goals and Blair returned the favor on at least one and they were all direct feeds. I might even have missed some.
As a pair of small forwards I thought they were excellent. I can't see any reason to change them as the small forward combo at the moment. Their passes...
These comments don't acknowledge the psychology of the situation.
If you can't convert you give the opposition hope. So many times this year we could have destroyed the confidence of opponents but left the door open and they've exploited the weakness. And it is a weakness. Psychological...
Geez you had me fired up until I read what was going on!
I'm desperately hoping this will be the Year of the Leon. His attack on the ball was good and he didn't give away silly frees. Definitely a proactive Leon of old rather than the reactive player witnessed most of this year.
There's...
BS. Did nothing wrong other than drop a mark while looking into the sun with a Hawk running at him front on. Anyone could duff that situation. It wasn't a blinder but he's been in the Magoos for ten weeks. What were you expecting?
Until we get a decent young ruckman we should hang on to Josh as...
On scoring analysis, we don't seem to be able to shut down those bursts where opposition score in a quick flurry. It's a worry. They really need to see what's happening when opposition have these breakouts. Cats did it too. Is there a lame duck in centre rotations (unaccountable, not defensive...
