If Carlisle comes in, we could see Battle go forward (or at least I'd like to see that). IMO we've been needing an extra tall forward so Bruce doesn't always have +1 near him dropping off a small, and it also means we don't have Membrey as our only tall when he pinch hits in the ruck
Personally I don't know why we didn't offer a one year/rookie contract. For someone who only finally got his body right I thought he showed enough to give him a look, especially seeing as the low draft/rookie picks have just as low of a hit rate
Sure, we may not be any good and we could just be riding a bit of luck, but what I can definitely say is that the way we are playing is a massive difference to last year. Even if we'd lost every single game this year, we are miles ahead of where we were last year - fumbly, easy to score against...
FWIW to all you Melbourne fans, Saints went backwards 2017->2018, and we managed to pull it back to what we as supporters expected going into last year. Unfortunately some years you're just shit for no reason (see: us last year), but Melbourne at least have the talent to be a top side, and both...
For the first time ever (that I can remember), I saw positive words by Barrett about St Kilda. Albeit only a couple of sentences, but it's a start.
It seems our positive start to the season has been noticed, and that can only be a good thing, from both a player acquisition and a potential...

I can't really see a thread like this after doing a bit of searching (so mods feel free to remove), but I was thinking it would be a good idea to have a thread where people can post updates on injured players if they hear anything about them, or know someone at the club etc.
ATM our injury list...
This is for a draft league with mates though; having looked at the current free agents, I'm really not sure there is, especially seeing as he's not even my bench player atm
Hey guys, fantasy footy related question:
Do you reckon Wells will play enough games this season to be worth keeping, or is he going to do his usual and (unfortunately) play well in the 10 games he does get on the park for and otherwise be injured?
Cheers
It might be worth noting that delisting Eli means he can get picked up by anyone as a DFA.
There could have potentially been a conversation about how we'd like to keep him but he'd still be pretty far back in the pecking order, or we can delist him and he can try his luck as a DFA where anyone...
IMO the funniest part about that is he's holding up #1 and #2 draft picks in the prime of their careers as "guns at their best" rather than being guns all the time/superstars at their best
The issue with Raph was his decision making, it always seemed to be a little too slow for AFL, and he battled under pressure.
He dominated VFL though, because there was that little bit of extra time for him. If you ever watched him play, you'd notice he was much more composed and he never seemed...
Type 1 diabetic checking in here. There's no reason that I know of (specific to diabetes at least) that would prevent him from getting enough miles into his legs, provided he has a good management plan, and keeps to it. If he doesn't, or he needs to update how much insulin he injects, (which may...
Mods, feel free to move this, but I thought it would be interesting to see who we take/will have left to pick from at 14 (before academy selections change that), so let's all do our predictions. Based on the discussion on the main thread it looks like there'll be plenty of opinions. You can give...
Lose your two first choices from any position on the ground and you're gonna struggle to win a gf
e.g
Hawks without McEvoy and Hale
Hawks without Roughead and Rioli/Gunston
Hawks without Mitchell and Hodge
Hawks without Lake and Frawley/Gibson
any of those combos and they'd struggle to beat the...
I didn't feel the need to add that you can't actually just go ahead and cheat, but then again I forgot that Carlton and Essendon have picks before us :p
Just a small point, all you have to do to participate in the PSD is have a spot on your main list. You can elect to not use the selections, and have a reduced main list/extended rookie list, but there's no special criteria you have to fulfill apart from that
Stupid cheap shots and derailings of the thread aren't really an argument. Also it's "must have"
But, FWIW, yes, if Collingwood didn't have Ball, they likely wouldn't have won in 2010. Also, you're kinda reinforcing my point here, we had 2 first round draft picks walk out for much less than...
Don't use hyperboles to try and illustrate your point, it just makes you look like you have no understanding of the topic. I'll break it down for you:
>St. Kilda offer overs in a contract (done)
>Freeman nominates St. Kilda, and refuses to do medicals elsewhere (done)
>Other clubs don't want to...
I think it's dependent on how many live picks are being taken to the draft. If each club decides that it wants to take 5 picks to the draft, then the points system will be updated to reflect that, with the last pick (e.g. 90) being worth the last amount of points (likely something less than 9)...
I thought of an interesting one last night guys: would you trade Billings for pick 2 to get Weitering (assuming Brisbane take Schache with 1)?
Not worrying about destabilising the playing group, and I'm not suggesting either Carlton or us would actually do that, but my question is, essentially...
If I can interject here with another line of thinking. The point system is a great way for smart teams to get better value for their picks, because the point system doesn't change year-to-year to reflect the relative strength/weakness of a draft.
Basically, if you're a team that is going to...
And yet 24 and 42 have more points worth than pick 14. So GWS might do it depending on if they have a pick in the 14-20 range (considering either way they're not going to use any of the picks except to cover points cost)
To be fair though, they're pretty much amateurs AFAIK, if footy was a full time job for them as it is for the men playing AFL, you'd likely see the skill level go through the roof
If Port brought the pressure they had last week to the dogs, it would have been a hugely different story (imo of course). I think that Saints being known as the 'pressure kings' is starting to become a bit of a curse (for this season a least, it'll likely hold us in better stead going forward)...
To be fair though, Essendon's performance was the worst I have ever seen a football team dish up live, even, IMO, worse than we were against Hawthorn last year. Sure we played well, but let's not kid ourselves, we were a bottom 4(or 5?) team until we beat them, and we did win the spoon last...
A win for small players everywhere, if you're good enough, you're tall enough.
My question to you is this though: in a final, what would/could you do to protect him from being taken forward by an opposition mid and being forced to defend? He'll give away a minimum of 4 inches to all but a few...
