I noticed at the game when he was lining up towards us in the crowd he appeared to hold the ball over his left leg which never great for a right footer. He looks fundamentally ok, a slight technique adjustment and he should be fine
I’ve reduced down to a 3 game membership this year. I still love footy but it’s not the Port Adelaide I grew up supporting. No doubt we were spoilt rotten with the amazing characters and success we had in the 80’s and 90’s, but that is my baseline. I get my kicks from playing AFL fantasy, SANFL...
Port could always do with more “neat”. Gee we have had a lot of classless players in recent history, and along with a poor midfield gameplan, has cost us plenty. If Hugh can develop and a new coach can come in and sort out our system he might be very useful
Totally agree, was watching those highlights with my son and said the same thing. You will never see a current port player execute a kick like that ever.
We are desperate for tough pacy midfielders with good skills, so I don’t mind the idea of drafting 2 or 3 this year and hopefully at least 1 of them pays dividends.
This is tough but fair. Just another example of our great club making the necessary hard and ruthless decisions to move forward and improve ……………….wait a minute….
We needed to pick the scab off the wound. How can Hinkley stay with all the mental demons hanging over the players heads if we head into finals next season and fail again. Could ruin the playing group (and supporters) for years. Club is soft as hot butter (but $$ and Kochs’ ego probably the issue?)
Trouble is, if we do ever win a Prelim, what sort of mental demons are going show themselves in the GF? Fair chance it could be 2007 all over again unless smart changes are made
It’s easy. Just make Ken the most expensive groundskeeper in AFL history, and make Monty or Chadbro coach. I’m sure they would do it for not much more coin. Just hope the Alberton Oval grass doesn’t curl up and die the first hot day in Spring
I have loved Port Adelaide since I was a kid. I remember walking around Alberton Oval during celebrations of our 90’s premierships as a teenager, admiring the legends and real men of Port Adelaide. I admit to having hardly watched a game in the few years. I just find our club full of fragility...
NSW seeking extra Vaccine from other States is a massive smokescreen to divert attention from their recent incompetence. A real low in Oz politics in my view and I am conservative leaning. So disappointing. Still no hard lockdown, no mandatory masks, just unbelievable. Swallow your pride and do...
I don’t think Marshall will ever be a dominant key forward, but he does have a unique skill set for a guy his size. If he can develop some confidence and more conditioning, I think he can play an important role under the right coach/gameplan/delivery. Look what John did with Darren Smith, Clarke...
Handy having a player like MG who has a leap like he does, with the way we deliver the ball. Always thought Crows were super lucky to have Modra, with the way McGuiness, Tregenza, McDermott and Co. kicked pie floaters all day.
