I do wonder how creative we got with the future first before the trade period ended and wonder if it was a case of being too slow to get in before all clubs were settled on their picks.
That is, with all clubs who had picks in the range that gws would have been prepared to slide to.
Perhaps I’m being overly optimistic, but that was almost a great draft haul from the eagles.
Clay hall will be an inside bull with shades of priddis and Dwayne lamb about him, but looks quite a bit quicker. He will compliment Harley, Reuben and Elijah perfectly and in 3-4 years that will be a...
After all the smoke screens and copious amounts of hours of content throughout the draft period, twomey now has curtin an effective pick 10 and going to the cats.
Big change from a “potential #1”.
Still hope we manufacture a trade with gws/other though to snare him.
JTR&C
Hope he does go well this year.
Going back to the 2021 draft I do often wonder why they passed up Matt Johnson who was touted as a top 10 pick and eventually slid to 21.
He is going to be a serious player.
I completely agree. I was at the game today and not one player on both teams stood out as having afl quality.
Jason Carter was the only one that when he got it produced some beautiful afl quality kicks, but he had very few possessions.
if you were Witherden, would you accept less pay with the potential to play more At west coast or would you stay in Brisbane where you are paid more and surrounded by mates then try and get better in the areas where you are deficient?
If I were Witherden I would choose more pay and hold...
Given north poached Brady Rawlings off us I wonder if there will be a goodwill trade with their third pick in the early 30s for our 46 and geelong’s future 3rd
I understand that it is not rated as a superdraft like last year, but the year before we picked up brander, o allen, l Ryan and petrucelle (and Ainsworth...) in the first 37 picks, which ended up being a super draft for us. Added to that is that TK was in that draft and we now have him.
Saying...
Think bell may have little man syndrome and wants to avoid getting a sore neck as he is generally bringing in vertically challenged ppl (Carr, garlick, kept Alcock).
Also, astutely thinking about the savings he can make on physio bills...
Would not be surprised if we end up taking one of future 3rd round picks and pick 46 to improve our draft position during live trading. Ending up with a better or similar pick to what 33 would have been. Then making it look like what we gave up for Kelly was 14/24 and future 1st. And 24 being...
When we pick up Yeo we traded pick 6 to Collingwood for 11 & 31. And we used 11 on dom sheed and from previous reports if required we would have used 6, but we felt we could get him at 11. Yeo effectively came to us for nothing as we kept 31 and traded 28 that we already held. One of our best...
Great point. I would imagine the hawks would be looking for more flexibility with their picks. So, potentially they do it if they felt by trading down during this period they could get a better deal now than on draft night. They then mighty be able to to take the selections they secure now and...
Because they get a 25% weighting on the picks they use to match a bid it can be advantageous to have lots of lower picks and use them while trying to keep the highest picks for use in the draft. If they tried to go higher they might waste points they don’t need to waste and lose the potential to...
Not sure if this has been covered in the previous 180 pages of this thread, but surely the way to get the best outcome for both parties in this trade is to put all their picks together. This would give themselves the best chance of getting the best outcome for both parties.
For example, I would...
