    EDFL Premier Division 2014

Don't know the player being discussed but without knowing individual circumstances it's pretty rough potting blokes on forums like this. Maybe he just wants to play at the highest level he can for as long as he can. Maybe the cash is going toward a house or supplementing a young family's income...

    EDFL Division 1 - 2012

Never claimed to read minds. Simply stated a personal conclusion based on knowledge of facts (as posted and so far undisputed) and subsequent actions of some players. Read back through previous posts, the term "loyal servants" is not my creation. We may though have different opinions on what...

    EDFL Division 1 - 2012

Committee had more members than in previous years albeit with key positions at the time vacant so don't see how you arrive at no administration. The manner in which the coach resigned was disappointing and I don't think anyone saw it coming. As far as I know a replacement was appointed promptly...

    EDFL Division 1 - 2012

KP was not and is not in financial trouble. Have not heard of a single player who was not paid what was due. The problem has been finding volunteers willing to put in the time required. The players have done a serviceable job on the field but for whatever reason (I'm sure I'll hear many) there...

    EDFL Division 1 - 2012

Don't recall anyone asking for sympathy. I just personally believe that when you sign a contract you should honour it. Contracts were with KPFC, not a specific coach/committee member. Believe that some may have had clauses but for the others, the club is still there and will field sides. Until...

    EDFL Division 1 - 2012

Sums up pretty neatly the problems facing many local clubs and society in general. Pathetic attitude from a "loyal servant".

    EDFL Division 1 - 2012

I would have thought this is where senior players would try and rally the troops. Instead the attitude seems to be "we'll struggle a bit this year, I'll try and find something better". Part of how the club got to that situation is through players who think training, playing and collecting...

    EDFL Division 1 - 2012

Why would they release contracted players? Nobody trying to get out of their contract is going to admit that they'll play if they can't. Bet most will though, especially if they're on some coin. A year out means no pay and devalued the next year.

    EDFL Division 1 - 2012

KP had over 30 senior players on the track tonight. Ground on track for home games early in the season. Has been some player turnover but that is typical of most clubs. The club is currently on track to field sides in all age groups for the first time in a few seasons.

Kicked 93 and missed last few games injured. I was under the impression he was signed at KP for 2012. Fantastic player but might be too far past his best for A Grade (65 of the 93 came against RP, MV and Jacana). Don't Strathmore have a pretty handy full forward anyway?

Barletta could be a gun but it's been shown time and again his body can't stand up to A Grade footy, has missed more footy this decade than he's played I reckon, which is a fair effort for a young bloke. On top of that he tries to do to much when he gets the footy and doesn't go in hard enough...

Fantastic bloke & hard at it footballer. Hasn't played in a few years but will not take a backward step. Also handy if you need any dental work.

Mr Controversy, For a bloke who's body has proven unable to stand up to the rigors of two's footy you have a lot to say. Not all grounds can have a bowling green surface, not even that cow paddock down at Cooper Street. Can only imagine how much K Carey enjoys having a cricket pitch in front of...

    EDFL moves

Good idea in theory but can't see it being embraced. If it is after the season then everyone just wants to get on the turps to celebrate and go on the footy trip rather than play more matches. If it's pre-season then you can't expect the players who bother to play to do justice to their true...

Contracts don't actually take effect until a player is registered to a club. Once registered to the club they are binding.

I reckon he'd dominate. Big body and smart enough to know how to use it. Look at a bloke like Minton-Connell. Never looked like much of an athlete but somehow always got his opponent out of position. Yeah a good defender would hurt him on the rebound but I think most would have their hands full...

    EDFL moves

A whole lot of rubbish gets talked on this site. Basically what people have to realise is that everyone involved does the best they can for their club. Yes some turn over more money than others, some make better decisions than others etc. But at the end of the day if, all other things being...

Have to be pretty tough to run past the footy to take out a smaller kid going the ball. Good to see the Doutta's bloke bounce straight back up.

Good club with good people, would expect to push for a spot in five but premiership will probably be asking too much.

Looking on the football victoria website it seems I am wrong. Apparently contracts only become valid when a player is registered to the club. So a player can opt out before being transferred but not after. As for legality of contracts traditionally courts have been loathe to overturn these...

    EDFL moves

To those who think a contract means nothing you are wrong. Once a player signs he plays at that club or not at all, unless the club agrees to let him go. In most circumstances the only reason a clearance will be knocked back these days is if the player is under contract, owes money or is under...

    EDFL moves

Poor old Strathmore & Greenvale, gee life must be tough at the top. Imagine the clubs that foster the current culture of players leaving at the drop of the hat for a better offer elsewhere complaining when it happens to them. If they want to keep the players match the offer/opportunities or...

Didn't see the Condos incident so can't comment on that. Clinnick & Tate both lucky in my book. Think you'll find that the difference between this year and last year is that these incidents were clearly visible. Hard to pick up who's hitting who in an all in. If an umpire goes to the tribunal...

Yep, Tate was a goose who got sucked in. Looking at the amount of joy it seems to have caused on this site I assume he's made some enemies throughout his career. Silly man because he seemed in reasonable touch on Sunday. Keilor fans shouldn't get too self righteous though. The way the...

Headed down to Windy Hill to watch my 1st B Grade game of the year and saw Tulla comfortably knock off a very disappointing Marby Park. Tulla had loose men all day and looked to work a lot harder. Not sure that Marby have put together a team that can win on the wide open spaces of Windy Hill and...
