Another rumour circling is that Scheetz was given the week off & played cricket and hurt his knee in the first few overs & may miss the next few. Anyone like to confirm this? Not the perfect lead up for the Fields, but i wish them well in the finals as they have been the benchmark this season...
At the end of the CC, that is the past. If Benny feels the club/president has belittled the umpiring fraternity, it needs to be discussed by both parties internally and not commenting in a local paper which in effect is detremental to the league. That is likewise from our club whether misquoted...
In all seriousness you must be taking the p1ss, because it was the least spiteful game i have seen between the two clubs and i thought it was played in very good spirits. There were 3 reports all of which should get off but more than likely wont with the "amateur" way the tribunal is operated...
Understand they maybe have previously been from the VFL, however that doesn't mean they will always officiate at a VFL level. Each decision was correct?? According to who, the umpires? Anyhow OI deserved the win and we move on.
Tend to agree with a good majority of the above, apart from the umpiring, i thought it was poor at best and i am not saying it determined the outcome either way, however they were the poorest we have come across this year.
We were badly hurt by one of our young onballers coming off late in...
Beaumaris V Old Ivanhoe
Old Brighton V Oakleigh
Caulfield V Hampton
Blacks V St Bernards
St Kevins V Marcellin
Our boys still to get 2 or 3 important players back in round 3 - 4, still like to have won, but thought the result was a good first up outcome against a known performer in this comp.
Scribe, GOI is baiting you mate. you were correct we had all but 5-6 like you said. OC played well and will have a good year ahead of them. Their skills were evident, good luck for the year. A big year ahead new clubrooms, ground in quality condition.
Yeah always one to put up my hand when i am wrong. However can only take a mans word. In relation to how we are tracking, no doubt we have lost a fair few to the almighty $$$. We are looking good for the future with 12 - 14 under 19 premiership players coming through to senior ranks from 2 years...
We did everything to keep them, but as UM said very hard to keep the 3 of them when good coin was on offer and ammos is a non paying comp. We have got a couple back for a full year in Corpy, Pinto, Matty and a couple of young blokes returning, but looking for the younger guys to take the next...
True, he is playing.... just not for Hampton. We tried but the $$$$ were too hard to refuse. He is playing over in the west. Would have been too good to be true getting him on board, would have been a very handy forward line! Let's hope he comes back within the next few years though!
I thought something smelt a bit fishy with this one.
Do you reckon the VAFA will ever allow payments? I know it is "amateurs", however the ammo's in South Australia can now pay. It is getting harder and harder to retain good quality players with the cash that gets thrown around!
Interesting call on Oakleigh considering they have lost arguably 3 of their better players to retirement. i would be of the same opinion, however i would swap positions of STB & OAK for OB & HR.
you are correct that 1 Robbins is leaving us, Dave to play up the bush with his brother in law. Dissapointing as he was a cracking bloke and a good player. Matty trained on Wednesday night.
