Lenny just wanted to focus 100% on his playing time as he knows he has a limited time left. There's absolutely no story there. I'm sure I know more about that situation than you. He's the most respected player at the Saints, but doesn't need to be in a nominal leadership position to exert any...
Bombers & Pies appear to be the big winners, Adelaide the big losers.
From a Saints point of view it's pretty much wait & see. Could end up being a great trade period, could be a disaster. I'm confident, but really don't know how Lee, Hickey & Dennis-Lane will go long-term. Looking forward to...
As was mentioned above for all his great attributes McEvoy isn't a great tap ruckman. He regularly dominates around the ground, but loses weekly in the ruck. Hopefully the Saints coaches have seen this weakness and Hickey is part of the solution. McEvoy will be a very good player, he just...
From what he has shown he'll be a 100+ game player, easily worth a mid 30 pick. Most Saints fans were seriously disappointed when he said he wanted to go, particularly after nominating only 1 club.
That's a massive rewriting of history. Ball was only dropped for a couple of games when he had a lean spell, but was clearly a top 22 player, as shown by the fact that we offered him a good contract. He just wanted to leave, much as Wellingham does.
Had money on RoK before the game & was pretty confident before the announcement - 15 tackles was massive. Very hard to argue it wasn't deserved.
Hannebury & Sewell clearly next best.
In general the umpires pay a mark is paid if the ball travels 10+ metres, but a free kick isn't given unless a player runs 20+ metres.
There's certainly not a consistency between the two distances.
In my opinion I don't mind the players being allowed to run 20 metres, but it's bad that far...
I wouldn't argue that it's easy, but you do have to be really naturally talented to make a career out of being a professional sportsperson.
It's probably less than 1% of the population who could ever get to that level, however much work they put in.
That's not to demean how hard athletes...
Three years ago the Tigers set their 3-0-75 goal. They've already missed the target by missing the finals and I'd say the chance of them reaching 75,000 fans by 2014 is slim to none.
On that basis alone Hardwick should be under serious pressure if they don't at least reach the finals in 2013...
Quite honestly that second half was the worst I've seen the Saints play in 5 years. We were fumbling the ball, getting chased down and missing tackles all over the place. It must've been a nice win for North fans, but there was a real lack of quality in the game.
Looking at one person's (Matt Burgan's) prediction is a rather limited exercise. I think it's better to look at the whole draft class and judge the picks based on the depth and quality in the draft given the picks the club has/had.
It was disappointing to fail so badly in 2008 & 2009, which...
Why does everyone thing the league will pretty much end the same as this season - there's almost certain to be some movement.
If Brisbane have a good season, get Leuenberger back & bring in Tippett, then they're every chance for finals.
I'll go for 12 wins, 10 losses.
If the team with the biggest budget who spend the most money on training, coaches and facilities win the league, it won't be that great of an achievement.
Kosi has a decent contract for 1 more year. Even if he knows in his heart that he's not really up to scratch he'd be stupid not to play on and take what's on offer before retiring from footy. He's given his all for our club and, despite his flaws, I can't begrudge him seeing out his contract...
Can't argue with you about Roo, but Lenny has had a stellar year. Is a big chance to win our B & F next week. Faded a little towards the end of the season, but you can't put up a decent argument that any of the mids who missed were demonstrably better than Lenny.
Saying that though, he hasn't...
He has a contract for next year, Watters can't say he's not wanted, particularly about a loyal clubman like Kosi who's unlikely to want to play for another AFL team (not that anyone will offer him anywhere near what we're reportedly paying him).
Pretty damning that he's praising Kosi for the...
Great effort to get 4 blokes in the squad, although looking at the big picture probably a little fortunate.
My probabilities on each of our candidates making the final 22:
Milney - 50% - no better than him in his position, but he'll never be a popular choice. If it was done on merit he'd be...
I'll do my best to represent the board well and will write a report afterwards :thumbsu:
Let me know if anyone has any particular questions they want to ask some of the players.
Dreamteam Division 2
Congratulations to the winning team, HappySaad - good luck in Division 1 next year!
Well done also to Goddards Guns for winning the minor premiership
He's a very good coach & could take Freo to a flag within the next couple of years. Considering the money he was offered to move and the list Freo have I can't blame him for jumping ship after a disappointing 2011.
It was frustrating to watch him persist with his favoured players when we had...
