I think a new environment will help, a lot.

Is a project player but I swear I saw him in VFL couple times and he wasnt all that bad. Reckon could be worth getting onto our list, if we want to develop him. Big men take time, and seems Melbourne are being impatient delisting everyone

Think they are saying he's still 81kg after 2 years?

Has hip surgery and played in the development side a couple of times?

Seems to have started the season well after an early groin injury, but really faded since then (2 kicks, 3 handballs and 1 mark in the final against Werribee).

Basically no hitouts this year.

Doesn't seem to be our man.

Gee its a hard call.
Drafted in 2010. Lacking form in 2012.
I remember a young guy who was drafted in 2008, barely made an impression in 2009, 10, 11, but now he's suddenly best 22 in StKilda 2012.
Wonder what the VFL watchers would say about it. ( 16 goals for the Scorpions this season).

Sounds like there is a bit of interest from other clubs. I wonder if a second round pick would get him, and if it would be worth it. In the end he may be no better than Daniel Archer.
You'd think it would be worth the Demons persisting a bit longer.

Rumours that he had dust up with Dees assistant coach, which could be reason they've decided to part ways

I think Melbourne would be delighted with a second round pick, and he wouldn't be worth it.

C42YoDoor or whatever his name is, who's usually pretty dead on, said it's a result of a massive falling-out with a development coach.

Obviously his VFL form didn't help the situation (went backwards in '12), but Melbourne couldn't develop a photo let alone a KPF.

Unknown quantity, would come cheap, Riewoldt's tutelage could do wonders.. Its worth a shot.

Amazing situation at Melbourne. Not only are are last years B&F winner (Maloney) Leading Goal Scorer (Jurrah) and captain (Green) all gone, but draft choices 12 (Cook) and possibly 11 (Gysberts) are all off their list.

To this add draft choice Scully who they lost at the end of 2011 and what a disaster their drafting, recruitment and management have been.

It does make you wonder if Melbourne and Neeld are far too impatient and have a desire to start again, when they haven't had the desired results this year. This may be shown by the fact that according to Superfooty article, that up to 9 clubs are interested in Cook. With these guys at 20 and 21 they dont seem to be willing to back their earlier judgement and let these guys develop.

It is to be seen, whether Melbourne will go from bad to worse with these decisions.

Seems like he'd be worth a Rookie spot, but with 9 other clubs hovering round, he'll probably go before that, and StKilda cant afford to be wasteful right now.

When Cook grows 6cm and wins a GF sprint, come and talk to me. :D

I dunno - Fitzpatrick spanked our ass a week ago and kicked 28 for the season (at least a goal in every game). 200cm and 21yo.

Gysberts ... really?

I don't know alot about him, but he played quite well against the Zebs a week ago, and was in the best in the final (22 possesions, 5 tackles).

GWS have delisted Steve Clifton. Was standout VFL player in '10 but been bit unlucky with injury this year. Is a tough midfielder and probably victim of them needing to downsize their list.

He looked very handy in rd's 1 & 2 of the NAB cup

Had a fair bit of opportunity though? (played 15 games in 2012 between the AFL and NEAFL)

I would have thought Cockie > Clifton (including being 2 years younger).

Over preseason we should look at prolonging Nick Riewoldt's career by experimenting with him playing Centre Half Back. If players up the field are gonna persist with kicking it to Nick's feet or over his head resulting in him being tunnelled, this should seriously be looked at to prolong his career... or that knee will be completely stuffed by the end of next year

Whilst I like the concept (Riewoldt is a very good field kick and good decision maker), he's had 78 shots on goal in 2012 and 28 score assists. Not sure who's going to take up the slack, and bust a gut doing multiple fast leads.

Don't see how that would prolong his career. He would still have the same running pattern (perhaps no as substantial). The only way to prolong his career is to play him as a true full forward which for some parts of this year, he did.

I call it "experimenting", not a straight-out swap to CHB... Look at who is out there & available in the KP defender category & there isnt much.

It's just an idea until we find that 'tall' key defender... He has always been a good swing-man in the clutch games we've played over the years. Remember him going back in the 2009 & 2010 prelims, his defensive work won us those 2 games!

Rors would probably point to how he tore his knee tendon in the first place (a crappy kick from Dal that Riewoldt tried to scoop up so he could have a shot on goal). The bad hammy he'd done was on a hard lead where he also got shithouse delivery (over his head).

I think you'd have to run with it, rather than pinch-hit (as he'd have to get used to showing an opponent some respect).

But it's all moot anyway (as there's no way Watters is going to buy the concept).

You have to think from the outside that the clearing out of their leadership team, McDonald, Miller, Bruce hurt them badly.

Particularly when the next batch Moloney/Green/Jones/Sylvia/Davey is completely devoid of brain surgeon material.

What are people's thoughts on Jarred Rivers? Talk is he will test the FA waters.

Has played 150 games. Stands 192cms and is 92kgs. Too small for our needs?

Hardly ever plays a full season due to injury? Is Melbourne self destructing or something?
Soon Jack Watts will be the most senior player.
