Hi former Bears, honorary Bears, gatecrashers, respected neutrals, retirees and friends- welcome to the Las Vegas Bears' Season 32 Best And Fairest - The Mateflon Medal. This occasion is for celebrating the season that was, and for the continuation of our proud and vibrant heritage here in Vegas. With a suite of illustrious awards being vied for, each steeped in history, it is a fantastic ceremony to bring together a rich past, and an exuberant future.

Each season with the Bears throws new opportunities, new challenges, and new characters - but what remains the same is our taste for adventure, our sizzling brand of qootball, and our profound care for our teammates and our emphasis on having fun. Unshackled from the stresses and rigours of the season, it is also a chance to let our hair down for the silly season, enjoy some of the best, sparkling company, alongside some of the worst sparkling wine. I look forward to this night each and every season, and the upcoming affair promises to fulfil every bit of that anticipation!

Well thank you MWPP . I’m sitting with por_please_ya and this looks like a lovely event. The empty seat next to me is meant to be thewizardmelon , but I hear the rookie pre-drinks with Electronic_Renaissance are still going on so let’s see if he turns up. We brought you a Phoenix branded card though to thank you for the invite and for your work as Captain of the Bears this season.

I'm wearing original Secret Squirrel couture, it’s the latest trend for my size.


How would you rate your year, and the Bears' year?

Well this is awkward, as I Dont Care has already sent me hate mail because our last quarter comeback in the final game which knocked you out. Personally I had the same level of mediocrity, however the team reached Week 2 of finals for the first time in a long time so hopefully we’ll build on that next season.


Did you manage to sneak some extra nuts past tony 's security?

Nope, Chippy’s Nuts are the official supplier of nuts for the event, so I can take all the nuts I want! I did see tony burning a number of copies of Muddiemoose ‘s ‘My Story So Far’ though, maybe sales weren’t as high as anticipated.

Who is your tip to win tonight?

Chippybet has some good odds on many of the Bears, but I have a sneaky feeling about JoshWoodenSpoon .

Good evening my lovely friend, I'm sitting with the usual Phoenix crew, thewizardmelon is looking very sharp. I'm wearing a retro vintage number by Zapaka tonight.




How would you rate your own season, and the Bears' season ?
I think we did pretty well to make finals at all! Was an interesting season for us. As for the Bears, I'm sure you guys were disappointed to JUST miss out on a final's berth but I have no doubt you'll come back firing next year.

Thanks again for helping out with the food and music tonight with Chipmunk . What do you have in store for us tonight?
We have the usual cannoli of course, and plenty of apple turnovers for I Dont Care. As for music, we're going to be up on the dance floor grooving to Prince like it's 1999.

Finally, who is your tip to win the BnF?
Toughie, I reckon Matera92 or Cap. One ranked highest in kicks at season's end and the other highest in behinds

How would you rate your own season, and the Bears' season ?
My season was actually top notch. The Bears season could best be described as "almost" just like Art Vandelay_ at a night club.

I will be sticking to my usual morning routine of champagne and cocaine.

Finally, any words of advice for our young qooty players?

Enjoy the match threads and ask plenty of questions , there is a lot of great people on the Sweet FA but unfortunately quite a few arse-holes. Hopefully you can put up with it longer than i could.

Congratulations on another successful year too, and on becoming captain next season. In a few words, what's in store for you and our great club over the next few months?

After what has been a few lacklustre seasons on the Qooty field for the bears I plan on bringing the rest of the teams standard up to at least 20% as good as my own personal levels
That should ensure we go undefeated next season
On an individual note I will continue to be the greatest moose who’s ever played Qooty and dominate the leagues ruck department.

Finally, who do you tip as tonight's winner?
After I won everything last year it’s only fair the prize is shared this season
Hopefully ToeKnee can get some recognition for his tireless efforts

My year? Just another year under the belt. As for the Bears, well we performed and there is no other attraction like performing Bears in the whole of the circus

Oh, it'll probably be one of those Moose dudes we have at the club

Hey Cap . Congratulations on an active season that saw you move to Full Forward. How would you rate your year, and the team's as as whole?
My year was OK, luckily the FF bar was set very low by Metalcrusher , so in comparison it was good. We will be better next year as a forward unit with another preseason under our belt.


Who are you sitting with tonight, and who dressed you?
I brought the husk of Lemon Boi after that juicing accident in preseason. Will make a nice addition to the Martinis we will be served.

Dressed by Mum, even got new boat shoes and knitted jumper for the evening.


Are pizza and pineapple on the menu (with or without cutlery) ?
I fear responding to the question could take away of the spectacle of the BnF. I mean no one eats pizza with a knife and fork at an BnF so there isn't much point saying that!!

Who is your tip to win the BnF ?
Muddiemoose by a nose.

What's in store for you over the offseason, and next season?
I've started pre season already, drinking at PB times which is nice. I hope the next season is FF with a couple of 10 goal matches

How would your rate your year and our teams?

My year was simply...a year. I've taken more enjoyment in seeing the development of new leaders at the club, and the rise of some fresh blooded rookies.

The Bears future is bright indeed!

Your rivalry with Art Vandelay_ is well documented and the *interventions* to prevent him from winning a BnF are also well known. Apart from Gero, who is your tip to win the Mateflon Medal tonight?

I think the Moose has been taking notes from my local Night School Class - How to Better Yourself at the Expense of Others. I feel he's a good shot at taking it out.
