Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

I doubt he gets to Freo. From what I’m told Chad is putting particular weight on the financial terms, in which Freo can’t fire a shot. If history is anything to go by chances are we’re back in the big dance before them anyway. And if history is indeed anything to go by it will be against you blokes.
And hopefully we WIN one for a bloody change

Hopefully not that one but from sheer weight of numbers you’re bound to win one soon. People generally happy with the switch to Coxy?

Very happy, it was time. To not clog another thread up, he gives us a fresh vision, the old one was only ever going to contend at the pointy end not win (well we'd need a lot of luck). We got the luck last year with an unbelievable run with injuries and still didn't make it count. Was that players or coach, probably a mix of both but it's easier to move on from the coach than 22 players that played on GF day.

If this comes to a trade both clubs are fair, we have a great relationship, would prefer your 1st next year plus one in 2028 with something going back with Chad the other way with him, maybe it's his brother as the steaknives. Not particularly worried as both clubs are fair, you gave a fair deal when dealing for Tim Kelly back in the day.

Coxy is a ripper, one of our posters who coaches that is tactically brilliant broke down the reasons the GF didn’t go as planned, Coxy will make sure it doesn’t happen again, you just have to get there. Worth a read if it’s not going to give you PTSD.

I think our 2025 R1 would be the centrepiece of any deal, we can’t trade 3 years in advance so it would have to be 2027 F1. Yeah we’re too fair at times. Kelly and Baker are the best examples.

We’ve hid picks for you (Rowbottom), did one of the only straight player for player trades (Jetta/Sinclair) and both negotiated in good faith for Hickey. If there’s a trade I think we’ll all be ok with it.

I'd love to read that actually if you could PM me that link about Coxy, yeah seems a great fit for us, he's saying all the right things.

Next year the trading rules are changing, you can trade two years in advance not just one (don't get me started this should have been in 5 years ago), would stop a lot of these deadlocks. Personally don't want 2026 picks as Tassie are pillaging that draft, so if it's next year plus the draft 2 years in advance that's fine with Warner + steaknives the other way whatever version the steaknives you want, might be Corey might be a swap somewhere, whatever. Both sides are very fair, trust me we are worse bending over than you! By the way when you unlocked pick 3 this year your thread was almost as good as the Sack Hinkley gold medal one!

They are, but not to trade picks in the 2028 draft (unless that was a typo). 2027 will be the first full Tassie draft as they are entering in 2028 so that’s probably the draft you want to avoid.

Dawson is the only Swans trade I can recall when you got bent over, there was a bit at play outside your control though.

Don’t even get me started on pick 3, Clarke can foxtrot oscar straight back to Richmond. He’s very lucky our recruiters saved his arse on draft night through sheer luck.

Will PM you that post 👍

Yeah sorry, on a coffee detox as my partner is expecting now, it's not helping me and my dates. Yeah you are correct with the dates. Avoid the Tassie draft at all costs. There are worse ones than the Dawson one, that was farcical though, said it at the time I'd have been happy sending him to the draft to be honest, we were half fortunate we turned that into something we could use.

Yeah the pick 3 basically for Baker was just weird as can be, he's good don't get me wrong, but why are you needing to sell pick 3 to do it, was weird. Loved your draft though, still hated the split of pick 3 especially to Carlton (it had to be them right jeez)

You’ve got bigger problems than the GF then… yeah pick 3 for 12 and 14 could have turned out ok. After our trade with Port it would have ended up Allan, MReid and Gross for pick 3 had we not shat the bed and sent 14 to Richmond for a bloke that would have been a free agent next year. Embarrasing. Jagga, Draper or Langford would have been a great fit for our list.

Yeah look the GF was bad but the happy news a month later made up for it despite me having to give coffee up (don’t ask). Yeah I mean I like Baker but on what planet aside from WCE being off with the fairies is he worth a top 15 pick? If you wanted a small Berry was there. Look I hope Baker is fantastic for you guys (just not against us please) but I don’t get the move and especially not at the premium price

I am personally. Change can be good sometimes.

I’m going to have a stab and say the missus now can’t stand the smell of coffee. Yes we’re off with the fairies, our list manager was seemingly still on Richmond’s books too. We’re using him in defence but would have preferred to split with say St Kilda for 8 and 32 and take Travaglia and Barrat with change. Hopefully we don’t do something stupid with our 1R next year but I’d say it’s reserved for Rodriguez or the Chad.

I wouldn't mind a PM of the post if you don't mind sharing with me as well.

I wonder how much media attention he’ll get back in Perth over the break?
Between me dancing in the aisles of Optus Stadium during BBL season, and Dubai Quacker's protests outside Parliament House for Sheldrick's promotion to the best 22, I'd say there won't be much media coverage left for Warner.
