The kid sounds so driven, hodge like.
Just seem him play in the nationals but he looks like he reads the ball well and can play inside/ outside.
From what I have seen he doesn't like to lose, not even one contest.

That is absolutely corrrect he has a bit of mongrel in him as well. Loves to bump into blokes when he is coming off the ground. This may be a bit of im better than you syndrome, but it is good to see he lets them know he is around always flies the flag for team mates and is like LT in the way he genuinely loves to celebrate everybodys goals.
The first time he came on after having his left knee strapped yesterday (he interchanged after a goal) he ran all the way to about 20mtrs out from goal to slap hands with the goalkicker then ran into the centre for the bounce.
To all who have yet to see him you will not see all he is capable of at Etihad this week due to his obvious limited running ability (groin). He has been the last to exit the stoppages on a lot of occassions in the last fortnight and a few of his possessions are coming because the ball gets turned over and he is in space.
I just hope you get enough out of the game to get excited about him it should be on Foxtel as well.

Good observation.

He's more Anthony Stevens than Keith Greig. He's a real scrapper.

He won't back down from a physical confrontation either.

15 kicks, 16 handballs, 8 marks @ 81% disposal efficiency

Not bad for an underage kid playing against the top side.

He spent 25% of the match off the ground with a crook leg.

I know a lot can happen in a year, but with the current make up of our side:

1. Would he be an automatic in, or do we give him a year to develop his body i.e McKenzie.

2. If he is ready to go Round 1 2014, currently, where would you start him?

1. I expect the club would be dealing with his physical development right now. He's probably 80-82 kgs right now.

2. Back pocket/half back.

I would hope the club are looking after him as best they can, he is certainly going to be a gun.

Would not be surprised if he finds himself in Utah in a few months. He has played a lot of footy but even on a modified program would be beneficial.....l would like to see it.

As for his position in 2014 if we are in a position for him to be treated like McKenzie ws this year we would have had a good 2013 but BP/HBF as H_T_B suggested would be his go likely replacing Atley at that stage of both of there careers as Atts goes into the centre with Mckenzie on te other flank

Is he definitely joining North Melbourne next year a la Junior Viney or will he play his final year of TAC Cup?

McRae is a genuine chance to be picked by us imo, he's not too dissimilar to how Nat Fyfe developed in his u/18 year, was a goal kicking 3rd tall, that moved into the midfield and dominated. He's definately got a bit of spunk about him.

On a side note, you can scratch Menzel off the recruit list, at least for our first rounder.. Has apparently done his ACL on his good knee. Couple that with a bad batch of OP earlier this year, and the fact he had Lars on his right knee when he was 16.

hope youre right there,i have been keeping an eye on mc rae for while, how do you rate matthew haynes from northern knights pykie as a later round type of pick ?

Id be Going over the family tree to see when exactly the kaibosh was placed on my family if I were a Menzel's.

It's in the genes.

Daniel and Troy Menzel (ACL)
Mitch and Nathan Brown (ACL)
Jack and Dylan Grimes (hamstring)
Adam and Hamish Hartlett (hamstring)
Blake and Nathan Grima (ACL, hamstring)
Joe and Darcy Daniher (I have no idea of the specifics but Darcy had to retire and didn't Joe miss all of 2011?)
Raph and Xavier Clarke (all sorts)
Kel and Andrew Moore (no idea but both have had significant injuries, Kel had to retire)

Did Chris Tarrant have any shoulder issues?
