Anyone who doubts the effort from Simpkin is kidding themselves. Every single year he digs deep and comes back bigger, fitter and faster. Can't argue with that.

Rick18 highlighted his lack of effort on a number of occasions last season that directly cost us goals. His defensive application at times can be very poor and doesn't set a great example.

Has always presented in A1 shape.

It’s his on field exploits through the middle, as Captain, that have significant questions over them.

I'm willing to forgive a few things last year, primarily because:

a) he had his brain scrambled in a ridiculous incident in the pre season and
b) we went from having him as a key primary mid back to a HFF over one pre season it's a tough role at the best of times, tough in a team that can't get the ball forward and it was a big ask expecting him to smash it straight away after several seasons of being "the" main mid

I'm willing to forgive a bit given the above, particularly when compared to some teammates that haven't shown the same internal drive to perform.

You’re making excuses for him. Brain scrambled, have a spell.

What about the talk of him kicking up a stink about having to play forward? Not very Captain like to put yourself ahead of the team.

The mid season rumours with no source or legitimacy?

I don't deal in hearsay / rumours.

Clubs band around blokes to help them. We failed TT. Or at the least allowed him to continue the behaviour. Team mates know what players get up to, him hitting the bag and partying at Revs should have been enough for the leadership group to intervene.

Yes, Jy is an incapable footballer but the more I look back on his leadership in the past.. which I have been supportive on, the more failure I see.

Anyone notice Jy getting named on ball with JHF for Indigenous team? It's likely a mock 22 but it'll be funny seeing those two at CBA's.
