Yeh he’s got no idea how to do a little hook lead for an easy hit up target. It’s simple leading patterns. He just drifts back into the next persons space
I wonder sometimes if it is lack of footy IQ or simply he knows if he doesn't he can avoid a contest.

You campaigners are on drugs. He was actually not bad, particularly in the context of being like his 3rd game for the year. Honestly wtf is with you people?

I'm all about Cox and I am convinced he'll be a gun. Come at me
I’m with you Uppsie. The campaigners here have no perspective when it comes to development, potential, and unicorness. It’s all about the recent past and Essington ptsd.

It's laughable. He's 21 and missed a whole year. And was really quite composed today. Classic BF Essendon board

He has no appetite for it . It is not just the dropped mark in the last . He actually does not give 100% . May not show up on TV but he is happy lurking out wide and not wanting the action.
He has ability but he has a pea heart . A few extra kg is not going to help him .
He was the same n the VFL in some games .

What has happened to him? He showed more ticker in his debut year. Time out of the game shot his confidence to pieces..?

It was an ugly moment when he pulled out but I don’t think he is irredeemable because of it. How many games of AFL has he played in defence? Can’t be ignored either. If I was Brad I would take him in one on one and go through the tape and ask him what could have you done better. Those situations have nothing to do with your size or body type. Hesitation is defeat and in my experience you seem to get more hurt the more you second guess yourself.

I'm still on the Cox train, and I forgive a lot of for young blokes who've missed a lot of footy coming back, but I am at my wits end with the experimenting with him on the wing and HFF. He looks all at sea forward of center. He's clearly going to be a career defender or a wash-out, so let's give him a couple of games down back and see what he can do. Could do worse than experimenting with the below for the balance of our season:

Cox Zerk McGrath
Redman Baldwin Ridley

Hepp/Hind 7th defender on bench.

In the unlikely event that we did put him up. What do you think he would be worth?

Okay. So, who's going to break this to the Unicorn? ...someone has to.

If you go back to his first year he looked good early but as the year moved on they started to put more physical pressure on him to stop him jumping at the footy and having the impact he did. His form did drop away. His form last year was average and he had a very poor moment in the Anzac day game where he pulled out of the contest. Not sure what has happened. Lack of confidence in his body or just not a physical player.

Playing against men.

Maybe once he is one he’ll feel more comfortable with it.

I have been driving the Cox train with andleanback. Was a big wrap for him before the draft. Have held off making comment for a wile now to see which way it was going but I am not going to sit back and not comment when a bloke starts jibbing contests. It has nothing to do with it being his 3rd game this year. He did it on Anzac Day last year. He was doing it in the VFL this year and now he is doing it at AFL level. He has massive talent but if you go to level three behind the goals and watch him he actually spends periods of the game holding back and not looking to get to the contest. I am not on drugs. I am watching him live very closely as he was a player that I rated. I can not cop blokes who will not go when it is their turn.

One ex-unicorn, hardly used, basically plays like brand new? I think buyers would still pay a second rounder based on potential.

If he doesn’t start resembling an AFL footballer sometime in the next 12 months, then his value starts to plummet.

Hoping it’s just a confidence thing though. Just imagine being irredeemably soft and the guy doing team selection is Brad Scott.
