really loved being at that game!
1-1 v GWS with us having won the recent one, and 95K tigers expecting blood
the ecstacy!
V brave anyone in Orange, respect - GWS hung on until in the 3rd q we started pulling away to riotous applause
sigh..
but apparently pies crowd vs the dickers was more impressive

Can’t believe it’s been over 24 hours but we haven’t got an arms crossed in club polo picture yet.

Pretty sure he is the US but no excuse

I’m actually so angry

I was actually just about to post the same thing. Saw McStay and Hunt in their respective polos and felt robbed.

anyone got good highlights vid of his inside work

all the highlight vids so far are just showing him kicking goals off the end of other players work

really don't give a **** about his goal kicking as hopefully our number 1 forward line will be doing all the goal kicking off his work instead

7 years is a bit longer than I'd like but the longer contracts is where footy is going, 750k is a fair price he could have gotten more most likely and the 2 picks I don't mind at all to get a ready to go mid into the team.

Overall a great pick up by the Tigers if we get Hopper as well its a bit like 2016 again, should keep us thereabouts for a few years to come.

Its so nice having players choosing our club over the Cats and Magpies etc. shows what a great system we have going down at Punt Rd, gotta love this club.
1 very important thing re: 7 yrs deals being the new craze & of course the media are completely asleep at the wheel on it. Clubs would have a fair idea when Tassie's team will be coming in & they'll have an open cheque book to raids Clubs lists. These 7 yr deals will cover off from that happening to them.

they are waiting for the hopper deal to get done so they can get a pic of tarranto, hopper and adam macron together

Went back and watched a few GWS games over the last couple games and honed in on spotting Taranto.
He does tend to turn the ball over and isn't exactly the best kick but his defensive mindset is second to none with the way he goes about tackling and pressuring.
People said he was probably the best for GWS in the 2019 GF and it was probably a consequence of how good we were on the day but even though he had a lot of the ball there were also a lot of hack and bomb kicks.
Wonder how well he'll gel with our midfield and how he assesses the tap work from Nank or if she's a pure shark and reads the oppo's tap work. Definitely want him to be as good as Prestia.

Is he worth a pick 12 and 19 through ?.

that's a good point which I hadn't considered. On the other hand, the way these long contracts work is that usually you're underpaying the player for the first few years and overpaying for the last few years. If a new Tassie team wanted to take a player who was towards the end of their contract (output dropping but money still high) I would think we wouldn't be too upset with that. You're more worried about losing guys coming into their primes

Again like those previously mentioned it's essentially pick 12 and CCJ for Taranto which i'll take. Would i have preferred we give them pick 30 instead of 19 so we can package that up with future first for Hopper definitely, but you can't deny he's still considered a gun midfielder. Everything has to be put into perspective, he's a proven gun player who has been pushed out of the midfield by Kelly, Coniglio, Green and Ward because he can play forward.
I most certainly would give up triple premiership player Castagna and Aarts in a heartbeat but I don't think anybody is falling for the packet of twisties and original smiths chips.
The probability of Taranto being a better player than pick 12 and 19 is about 80%. That is the risk you take going to the draft instead of picking up a proven player who is elite in contested possessions, clearances and pressure acts.

The guy had elite seasons in 2019 and 2021. He performed in-line with how GWS' season went this year, and managed an average season. He certainly hasn't shown he can be like Dusty or Shai who can carry the team on their backs but we have plenty of star power still.

I personally think we should've just given them 12, 19, 30 and next year's first to take Taranto and Hopper as a package but the club knows what it's doing. We definitely reamed them by getting a first rounder for Deledio.

We will get it done. If they're broadcasting the last hour of the trade period then this is just theatrics.

Might be a bit premature but I think we’ve found our next captain. In a couple of years he’ll be our second best player behind Bolton. Has leadership. Clean cut off-field. Trains like a demon. Well spoken. Gets the hard ball to set the standard. Bookmark it !

Good pick up.
Thinking about it.
Who exactly is next in line.

it's not a turnover in our gamestyle, it automatically becomes a Chaos ball :tearsofjoy:

Yep. another reason to back end a deal is it makes the player RFA when they come out of contract which gives u the option to match a bid. IMO we'd have done that with Dusty & Lynch to make sure Tassie or anyone else can't come along with an open cheque book & offer them superannuation when they come in. If we got unlucky with the yr Tassie was to come in at least we'd get decent compo hopefully. Clubs will have learnt from the GC & GWS raids they copped.

Watched 3/4 of the R19 GWS Carlton game focusing on Taranto whenever in screen.

Seemed a complete all round player, 30p at 80%DE, strong tackles, good hands, good vision, quick disposal. Only 8 CP's and he was safe with his decision making but moved the ball well enough.
They mentioned he was still working into form after injuries, so plenty of room for improvement.

Pick 12 and 19 is about right from what I saw, Cotchin/Meatball type class, maybe more improvement in the Richmond culture.

Tim Taranto drinking game:

Everytime BT confuses Taranto with Prestia in 2023, take a drink.
Just wait until biggy gets a game and he calls him aliir allir.
