Went back and watched a few GWS games over the last couple games and honed in on spotting Taranto.
He does tend to turn the ball over and isn't exactly the best kick but his defensive mindset is second to none with the way he goes about tackling and pressuring.
People said he was probably the best for GWS in the 2019 GF and it was probably a consequence of how good we were on the day but even though he had a lot of the ball there were also a lot of hack and bomb kicks.
Wonder how well he'll gel with our midfield and how he assesses the tap work from Nank or if she's a pure shark and reads the oppo's tap work. Definitely want him to be as good as Prestia.

So we just gave 7 years to Jason Castagna V2.0?

Sarah's a pretty good interviewer. Felt really relaxed.
Both Taranto and Hopper speak really well. We will have a bloody strong leadership presence moving forward now.
Very exciting!

Prestia replacement/insurance. Will still be part of the midfield rotation regardless of whether Prestia is available or not but we have had a heavy reliance on Prestia to be our major ball winner especially since 2018 which coincided with Dusty spending more time forward of centre. Now there is two guys who will always been around the fall of the footy and also happen to be very good at being the ones who come away with the ball.

Sounds like a top quality bloke Taranto…top shelf

said the tigers had been in touch with him throughout the season…and he knew mid- late season he would be coming to us

Hopper texted him when he was formally drafted …an expletive laden text …this says both lads are well and truly over the moon to be at tigerland

**** we are an awesome club

Geese he speaks well, him and hopper are already my favs. Sound like seriously good guys and super mature too. Future leaders of the club 100%

I can see them both going to a new level at the tiges in our environment.

2023 is gonna be special

If you watch both Taranto and Hopper's highlights, there is a lot of winning the ball in tight and slamming it on the boot to move it forward quickly. Sometimes, they break through tackles and then move it forward with more purpose. This is not how we play at Richmond.

I think you'll find Taranto is a far better kick than he appears. Our ball winners feed the ball out by hand to outside runners and then become part of forward link play until they are in space. Taranto and Hopper will be able to use their footskills far more effectively under our offensive structure.

Suspect we will have to learn how to use a number of good inside mids. But I also think that we have already worked through it. They might find themselves in exactly the right place at the right time.

Mate, Dimma knows best. Before they get to go through the coalface and in the guts, they first need to master playing off half back
