The "BIG FOUR" is an anachronism these days. An echo of a bygone age.

Even Freo have more members than Carlton.

The actual Big Four of the modern era:

Adelaide
West Coast
Collingwood
Sydney or Brisbane (take your pick on the last one).
Now that's one of the funniest things I've read on BF. Almost as funny as someone saying Neitz is better than Hird, Buckley and Harvey.

is it going to be the biggest crowd of the round?

Probably, because the Geel v Foots game tomorrow will most likely get below 45k.....closer to 40k.....(and there is no other 'big' game on)

The same Brisbane, who after 3 premierships have just 417 more members than the Western Bulldogs?

Was a good crowd, Coll v Carl last year on a perfect Saturday night in slightly better predicaments than todays teams got a similar crowd of 48k.

Wow 2000 more for supposedly two big drawing clubs than Adelaide last night who played an interstate team. Essendon = not part of big four anymore and down where you belong.
Ahhh the ignorant bandwagoner, becoming more and more common lately.

We got 50k when Collingwood was playing just across the road, fair effort I'd say. Especially when you consider where we are on the ladder.

No.

Showing that Essendon and Carlton have their supporters residing in the same state.

I think when most people refer to the big four being Richmond, Coll, Ess and Carl....they are referring to the Victorian 'Big 4' because any realistic person would have Adelaide and West Coast in a the AFL 'big four'....

The 'Big 4' are clubs who have had longstanding success in the league, have won premierships in multiple eras, and who have a history of high membership. Adelaide and West Coast aren't in the Big 4, yet.

your talking about vfl which is different. AFL is since 1990. Brisbane are the most successful club in the AFL followed by Adelaide, Essendon, Kangaroos and West Coast. So get ya facts right. Believe it or not its not the VFL any more.
Adelaide have always a history of high membership more than any other team!

Yeah because people weight up the stadium capacity before they decide to go or not to go to the footy :p

Didn't say that.

What on earth does capacity have to do with anything? Would a school game with a full stand qualify as a more successful crowd?

Didn't think so.

So you believe that comparing school crowds to Carlton V Essendon matches is a fair comparison?

The way the two are playing, maybe it is.

Any state that only has one or two AFL teams to choose from, well....you'd expect them to have more supporters per team????
The BIG FOUR will always be Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton and Essendon. These teams always pull good crowds, doesnt matter where they are on the ladder. If they are playing interstate, oppostion supporters will flock to the game to see them get beat (or not) because they are the BIG FOUR!

FFS! How many times does this have to be explained? Carlton and Essendon are the most successful clubs in the AFL. The competition has been in existance since 1897, not 1990. All the interstate teams joined the competition. The competition was not reset in 1990.
