Wouldn't surprise me if we see him play next year. Doubt it would be more than a handful of games, but injuries in either the forward or midfield (with the likes of Papley and Gulden then likely to spend more time in the guts) and he'll be a real chance.

Hopefully. Looked a year or 2 off for mine, which is fine. A few years ago he'd have been a shoe-in to play a dozen games, but now we've got an excess of players who are reasonable candidates for midfield minutes in the event of any injuries.

Will definitely be watching him and Roberts closely next year.

The one thing about small forwards is the general traits don't change it's basically pressure, chasing, etc. It's probably why we went a small forward. Can come in easily next year and do those things, goals are a bonus.

Only seeing the highlights video on the AFL site he looks like he reads the ball in the air extremely well. A lot of his marks early in the video was just him timing his positioning and his jump much better than his defenders. Hopefully that can translates when guarded by AFL players.
Weird to have a pressure forward have no pressure highlights though, come on AFL editors.

Due to his position it's possible he is a chance to be best 22 in 2023 at some point.

If I read and recall his history right he was (and is) an attacking small forward who did a stint in the mids before returning to the forwards. The pressure side is a more recent (and very effective) addition to his game.
As to the highlights the camera folk seem to be under instruction to film mostly attacking actions (marks, goals, kicks, hballs, runs) rather than defensive ones, regardless of position.

IIRC there are usually two cameras recording every game for U18 and the old VFL, one on the wing or in the stands and one from behind the goals. The wing camera is definitely instructed to just follow the ball, behind the goals is capture the whole field as best you can while still being able to see the far end on video.

I have been the behind the goals cameraman before and sitting alone on some high scaffolding in the middle of winter not really being able to watch the game in front of you is not an ideal Sunday arvo haha

If you're high up on the scaffolding , what do you do when you need to take a piss?

Know a few people that did high up camera/follow spot work: bottle or hold it until a break time like half time

I'd just take it as a challenge and try to hit someone whilst keeping the camera pointed in the right direction.

Been really impressed with the marking/leading target he presents as. Something that separates him from other small forwards and depth players I'd suggest

Wonder if it'll be on display early

Separates him from other small forwards except for Papley who is also really good at that

My brain still abbreviates that to Josh Kennedy. Can we maybe hold off on calling him JK for a while lol

Haha...the same...got me imagining if he was contracted for this year. Geebers I had Swans Boards boos ringing in my ears all over again,.

Sorry! (But I would have said JPK if I were referring to Joey.)

Melican and Magor were also absent I think. Surely not all carrying fresh injuries? Maybe some were just having a rest week as they manage their loads.
