I hope he goes ahead and kicks 20 goals over the next four weeks, keeps his contested marking up and increases his goal assists so the selectors know they *ed up.

Oh they ****ed up all right! Meteoric Rise made a compelling argument for Lynch to have been included that only a selection corrupt panel would pick otherwise. 😠

Slightly embarrassingly I got one or two things a little wrong, but he should 100% be in, here is the table of him v the 3 selected ahead of him with all their output standardised to what they have produced per full game played:

So let’s do a correct comparison of the 4 players across a fair range of statistics, goals, goals + goal assists, score involvements, disposals, tackles, contested possessions, contested marks. I will list each players total then reduce each player’s total to an amount per minute actually played then I will multiply that by 73(about the average minutes for these guys per game) to get the average full match total.

I have greened the aggregate leader in each category, and bolded the average per 73 minutes leader(full match.)

Hawkins leads 3 categories on aggregate, and 1 category on average per full match.

Cameron leads 1 category on aggregate, and the same category on average per full match.

Curnow leads 2 categories aggregate and 1 category on average per full match.

Lynch leads 1 category outright and 4 categories on average per full match though to be fair his strongest area - contested marks is also counted in contested possessions. So Hawkins would actually lead in average contested ground balls.

But looking at this I have no doubt the order should be:

1. Lynch
2. Hawkins
3. Curnow

Cameron is not winning enough of his own ball or doing enough compensating damage to be ahead of any of the other three.

Good work, I might be wrong, aren't Frees For counted as contested possessions?

This is underplaying it somewhat.

Tom Lynch has in 2022 the highest average contested marks per game of any AFL player in the last 11 seasons. Only one of the tall forwards selected ahead of him, Curnow, had more than 50% of the contested marks of Lynch on a contested marks per minute played basis. And he took contested marks at about 54% of the rate of Lynch.

It is a seriously embarrassing omission by the AA selectors but to be expected I guess.
It's a popularity contest.

I knew it would happen because their was hardly any talk of Lynch being the team despite beating & dominating some high class defenders throughout the year.
Lynchy made Moore look lost at times I remember...the matchup with Harris Andrews this week will be interesting to say the least.

Lynch is going to destroy that campaigner

Wouldn’t you rather he do this so we win the flag rather than sticking it up the AA selectors?

Was boring as batshit with a polo that was 15 sizes too big for him On the Couch. Don’t think there’s a media career waiting for him when he retires!
His presser on the Richmond site shows him to be a very humble and mature human being.

Having met him several times it’s super suprising how shy and quiet he is off the field.

LOL, this gets more and more embarrassing.

In 2022:

Lynch 60 goals from 1204 match minutes. A goal per 20 minutes on field roughly.

Curnow 64 goals from 1617 match minutes. A goal per 25 minutes on field.

Hawkins 59 goals from 1681 match minutes. A goal per 28 minutes on field.

Cameron 59 goals from 1547 match minutes. A goal per 26 minutes on field.

🤣🤣🤣 Guess which one those mongooses DIDN'T select in the AA team? Lynch kicks 79 goals if he plays the average minutes of the other 3 and they get picked ahead of him for kicking roughly 3/4’s of that many. He goes ahead on every major stat including score involvements* on a per minute played basis. Absolutely perplexing.

* Edit: this part is incorrect. Lynch would move ahead of Curnow, ad similar to Cameron for Score involvements but still about 1 per game behind Hawkins. However, Lynch zooms ahead for scoreboard impact overall on a per minute played basis.
He is the best tall forward in the comp FULL STOP!!

We really need him to continue his form through the finals if we are to get further

Really looking strong and motivated and coincidentally his man is looking extremely out of form

5 Goals Lunch
Fixed...5 snag Lunch...
