Kiwis have only one series win in last nine series so not sure what luke is talking about they were actually a better side when they toured here few years back and they were still slaughtered Pakistan is as likely to put up a fight in our conditions as nz is.

Pakistan also named their XI:
1 Abdullah Shafique, 2 Imam-ul-Haq, 3 Shan Masood (c), 4 Babar Azam, 5 Saud Shakeel, 6 Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), 7 Salman Ali Agha, 8 Faheem Ashraf, 9 Shaheen Shah Afridi, 10 Aamer Jamal, 11 Khurram Shahzad
Batting looks okay and deep with Ashraf batting 8 but I have grave fears for that bowling attack outside Shaheen. 2 debutants, Ashraf who bowls genuine mediums and Salman will bowl some chop out overs with his offies. I thought for sure Hasan Ali and Mohammad Wasim would be the pace bowlers picked.
We could be seeing Pakistans 6th chairman of selectors in the last 11 months if it goes poorly.

Yeah their bowling looks ropey as. Shaheen is a beauty but he can't do it all. One of the debutants will bowl absolutely dross, guaranteed.

David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (c), Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
Especially this Steve Smith guy. Better listen to the 12th Man so I can learn to pronounce them ahead of the series start!

Hard to pick against the Aussies in Perth. Hope it is a tight 5 day thriller though!
I assume he is getting that series mixed up with the one few years earlier when they had first pink ball game and kiwis werent too awful, the 19/20 kiwi team got destroyed over here, pakistan got crushed that summer as well but at least they didnt get rolled for under 200 basically every innings.

Thanks Gough, same to you. Looking forward to the first session, hopefully a bit of spice in the pitch early. Surely both teams would bat first, although, do Pakistan try and take advantage of the pitch early and send us in? Can’t wait
I have a work dinner tonight, really really hoping there's a TV in the function room. In the past I've made it a priority to clear the schedule on the first day of Test cricket for the summer, watch every ball more often than not.

You're probably thinking of the 2015/16 series. NZ were far from competitive the last time they were here. They lost by well over 200 runs every game.

That’s the one got the series mixed. Though 200 runs still better than the Windies are going to put up.
Why do Pakistan have a different bowling attack everytime they come out? Apart from Shaheen they will get pumped.
Only interesting test last summer was the two day Gabba green top, honestly can’t remember the rest.
Hope Pakistan can at least show some fight, they did from memory in 15/16 in at least one test, they’re a weaker side here though.
