Would be sad to see him get suspended, but i have no problem with 2 players going to have a beer with Howie. Mentally, this would be tougher season than any to have to sit on the sidelines with a long term injury. They'll get no hate or anger from me. Some things are bigger than footy.
Yep, it’s commendable that are players are supporting each other. While calling a club employee may have been a better option an Uber is still much better than drink driving.

Rules are rules though and with the seriousness of this virus and the need for the AFL to be seen to doing the right thing I can’t see anyway they avoid an 1 week suspension.

Spot on. Rules are Rules and there are other ways of Talking and Seeing him with Video Calls on Phones

According to AFL 360 Dunn and Sidebottom went to Howe’s to visit him after his injury they’d been drinking and their arranged lift fell through so they caught an Uber (breach #1). Dunn apparently went home and Sidebottom went on to visit Daniel wells who is an employee of Collingwood but not in the Collingwood ”bubble” (breach #2).

Absolutely, the AFL's got a job to do, i fully expect them to cop a week at least.

But if a mate of mine copped an injury like that in a season like this, I'd be going over to have a beer with him too (in a group of less than 5 of course).

Slobbo going his hardest. Did he go this hard at McKenna who plays for his beloved Bombers? Doubt it.
He’s a moron. I think Gerard reflected a more accurate view. They broke the rules which will cost them a suspension (and so it should) but it’s doesn’t warrant Slobbo’s sentiment.

We lost Howe for the season and then we break the rules to visit him.
I’m lost for words!
The entire season is hanging by a thread. Games are being rescheduled, the club is leaving Victoria and moving for a few weeks to W.A to eek out some games.

How could they have been so dumb?

They are not very Bright

Gambling and COVID-19 Breaches. Does the Club have any form of Cultural and Welfare Training to prevent these breaches?

Agreed. I'm sure you would arrange a means of travel permitted by the rules though

Given what's at stake and Sidey's position within the club this is an inexcusable breach for such a senior player.

There's a bigger picture here with other states deciding on whether they'll let us in or not and mistakes like this aren't exactly going to endear us with the leadership in states where the AFL is busting it's arse negotiating to send teams over to keep the season alive, based on their proclamation that players will abide by the restrictions (and higher standards) that have been set.

Really, really stupid, irrespective of whether he thought he was doing "the team thing" or not.
