Nate Washington signed a reported $27m over 6 year contract with the Titans.

Dunno much about their WR situation (I take it not very good), but they are paying him #1/#2 money, and he just isn't that level of WR. He is a solid #3. Drops too many passes for that dosh and hasn't started more than 10 games. On the plus side, he is deceptively quick and often gets open because of it, offers the deep threat that opens up the shorter passes. I guess maybe with more consistent game time he may drop less passes.

As you intimated....it's a way for them to keep the DBs honest so they can use Chris Johnson more on short passing, give him space to run. And maybe once in a while the DBs will be exposed and Washington gets a TD here and there.

I aint buying into any rumors ever again. Im tired of riding the edge of my seat at every little bit of rumor that happens between February and May. Where you cant sleep, read up on 50 million forums chasing info, etc, and emotionally get attached to each rumor till it happens or doesnt happen.

The last two seasons I've decided to lalala basically and just wait for the NFL draft itself and actual confirmed trades/signings....i mean, emotional investment.

I know what you mean gg, but it's difficult not to get caught up in some of the storms that free-agency rumours create.

The latest one to come out of Minnesota is that the Vikings are putting together a Jared Allen type of deal (a 1st round draft pick and two 3rd rounders secured Allen last year) to grab the disgruntled Jay Cutler from Denver.

I know the chances of this deal going through are virtually nil, but its a tasty proposition!

Apparently Roy Williams wants to be cut or traded out of Dallas. While we are probably looking to replace the guy, it would be madness to get rid of him without a decent back up plan back there.

...and the Falcons continue to stand pat and not make any rash moves in FA, causing an almighty shitstorm by stupid fans on the team's official message boards.

Man I don't get why some people think that you've gotta throw insane amounts of cash at the biggest names out there and it's instantly gonna propel the team to Superbowl status. We even had a few people clamouring to sign TJ Whoseyamama despite the fact that we have White (coming off a Pro Bowl), Jenkins (the definition of the word SOLID) and an emerging Harry Douglas already on the roster. It's insanity and shows the lack of IQ that some fans have I suppose, fans who are supposed to know more about the game than some bloke on the other side of the world mind you.

As you intimated....it's a way for them to keep the DBs honest so they can use Chris Johnson more on short passing, give him space to run. And maybe once in a while the DBs will be exposed and Washington gets a TD here and there.

Spot on, it is not like he is going to be running the inside routes, at least he never did at the Steelers. He said that he wanted to be the #1 WR, I don't think he will end up being that though, just more of the deep threat, not the go to guy.

Yep. And that's exactly how I want it but most "fans" can't understand the logic in that. Most of them are just fairweather folks who are still pining for Michael Vick and can't see the logic in shoring up the SYSTEM we already have in place. They think that just buying the biggest name available will catapult us into championship contention, forgetting that we didn't even sign Turner until 4 days into FA last year and even then they pissed and moaned about that signing.

I did hear a rumour that we were talking to Rod Coleman about the possibility of getting him back in uniform. I actually wouldn't mind seeing that. He was very effective for us but had a few personal issues that led to him being cut I think.

A very sad day for Vikings fans. Matt Birk has only ever played for the Vikings and was a locker room leader and genuine nice guy. Birk's departure means that either 2nd year player John Sullivan or perhaps Anthony Hererra (moving from Guard) or Ryan Cook (moving from Tackle) will line up at centre next season for the Vikes.

I'm not sure the Vikings will want to go to the draft to find a replacement, as they've potentially got a new QB (Rosenfels) lining up behind centre....

Good move IMO. Bryant struggles on kicks 40+ and Nugent has a big leg. This is an under the radar signing that could have a great impact next year.

Nugent really doesn't have a big leg... His kickoffs were pathetic for the Jets and he struggled on the big kicks. He didn't in college, but he did in the NFL.

the jets stuffed it in picking him up in the 2nd round a few seasons ago, but he never lived up to the hype. geez, the jets are stupid alot of the time....the nugent pick had all the signs of panic. fans going off blaming doug brien for the divisional playoff loss against the steelers and demanding something be done. admin rode the wave of discontent, rest is history.

and if Nuge cant handle the pressure of being a 1st day draft pick, how's he going to handle kicking in the clutch?

i'll be following his form closely at Tampa.

The 49ers are making their draft day intentions pretty clear based on their free agency moves so far.

Resigned: KR/PR Rossum, ILB Spikes

New Signings: WR Brandon Jones, FB Moran Norris, DE Demetric Evans, QB Damon Huard.

Jones, Morris, Evans and Huard? Definitely put us over the top to win the NFC West. I can see Wiz peeing his pants already.

Looks like our new RT and pass-rushing OLB played college ball last year.
