He is aging. He may not even be a keeper this year!

Just a quick question. How many players (keepers) start of at $400,000 or more, but end up as duds at the end of the year (< 80 points per game).

Do you have to ride these players out (Golden rule) or should you look to trade (rules can be broken).

Anyones opinion that this might happen this year? And to whom?

Gia will be cheap
Is he injured though?
Not scoring well at all!

Suffering from lack of TOG unfortunately. According the the paper he played 70% GT but heard reports he played less than a half. Not sure why he has reduced game time but for his owners sake lets hope Rocket gives him the 85-90% that will see him reach his DT potential.

I see a large improvement coming into his future scores.
It looks likely I'll be picking him up for Skippy soon.

Hey Chaps,

Just wanting to know the general consensus here on Davey of the Melbourne Variety, Averaging a ton this year, can afford to bring him in for Skippy, will he continue on this form and average 90-100 for the year or will he cool off.

Many thanks in advance for all the conflicting advice i am sure to recieve :p

Nothing to do with age, look at his second half of last season. Rather the problem stems from significantly less time in the ruck and the club doesn't seem to want to back him in as first choice, seemingly favouring the more inexperienced Graham over him when the club needs experience the most. Look at his stats in the first game, when he spent more time as the ruckman and when his spot was seemingly secure, with young Browne being the clear second fiddle - then compare those stats to his stats with Graham in the side, from rounds 2 - 4.
No arguments there. I guess I just put age out there as a possible contribution to it :p

It depends whether you would prefer having Davey in your final team, or spend the extra 30k and getting franklin/gia/harvey.

Why would u pay 350k or whatever his overpriced price tag is when there are proven dt guns falling in price? Pavlich - Gia - Didak etc all better options imho.

Does anyone think Gilbert could be a keeper in their backline? He's been pretty consistent since the start of the season. Will he be able to keep this up, and if so, is he worth trading in?

he could have ended a keeper if u started with him i think depending how strong ur team is ... however i personally cant bare to bring in a player that has risen so much already knowing i could've picked him up so much cheaper earlier... there will be proven guns out there that have dropped or about to drop to his price ... imo i would go with the proven guns

Who here thinks that Kurt Tippet can average 70-80 PPG.

Forward/Ruckmen. Mobile, good at second efforts, 94 against a weak Geelong ruck combo.

what does everyone think the following players will average for the remainder of the year??? give reasons for your answer preferably

my thoughts

Riewolt 100av playing in strong team this year getting plenty of the ball forward and hasnt even hit his straps yet but still lookin good

Deledio 93-95 playing in SHIT team getting heavy tag this will prevent his scores this year being extremely high i think but is a an absolute gun!!

Harvey 90-93 struggling with tag this year dont think north will be as strong as previous years .. hopefully will start slotting some goals to improve his scores

Gia 93 .tog (lack of ) is hurting him.. higgins taking his role slightly.. proven dt gun and i'm sure he will still feature highly in av

Didak 95-100 dt gun imo. junk time specialist. only kicks the ball. cheap marks and goals from everywhere.. just out of touch and will get back to it

Franklin 150av haha (i hope) realisticly should av 95-100 from here on ... hasnt hit his straps only kickin 3 goals a game hawks have won 1 game from 4 and still av close to 90 he could easily be the highest scoring forward this year

Stevie j 95-100 unbelievable start to the year he is a superstar playing in a extremely succesful team should keep up the good form

I aim to bring in Franklin and Riewoldt. Then I'll just have Krakouer or Ziebell to upgrade, depending on who I upgrade first. By then I think most of the above players will have hit their straps and began to peak in price.

How does Riewolt generally go against Port?

Port have the wood over St Kilda stemming back ages; they haven't won their since 97 I believe. The forecast is for rain. I'm guessing that Riewoldt will struggle without Kossi and that he will be double and triple teamed. He will struggle to score 80 (I am a St Kilda fan BTW)

Which should be good to pick him up next week then hopefully :thumbsu:

While looking across players I could trade in for Skipworth along comes Simon Goodwin. A noted DT'er and with a price of 360k could be a very good pickup.

Has only have one bad score of 59 during this season.

Is there a major reason why I shouldn't get him?

Do you think he is overpriced? I have Pav already, Gia im concerned whether he is under an injury cloud and getting less TOG and with Murph to comback too. Dids is definitely in my sights but he will continue to drop in price for the next couple of weeks and that will let me downgrade a cow and upgrade one of Walker/M.Brown.

Thus giving me a forward line of Pav, Lids, Volt, O'Keefe, Dids, Davey and Walker/M.Brown to be upgraded at a later point.

Leaving Davey as the 7th forward and a unique pick.

thoughts on Ryan O'keefe at the minute?

Is the boy fit?

Looking to upgrade skippy or cloke this week.

I wish there was an obvious forward downgrade - as i'd cash in garlett (he's done for ther year) and bring in roo for cloke or harvey for skippy

i can either do

skippy -> ROK and hope his form improves

or

Cloke -> Harvey and hope he is back

i took cloke as a punt and it has backfired, so now need to get rid of him before he plummets. however with talk of N brown out i may need all hands on deck

O'Keefe struggles without Hall and O'Loughlin in the forward line. Wait until they come back, see how he scores for a couple of weeks and then jump on him if the scores improve with their return...

Thoughts on which Pie rookie to start, Beams or Barham?

(Assuming they both play.. and that I trade in Barham.. which looks likely).

was more looking at if he was carrying an injury or not

saw some stats last year that disprove your theory though

he averages more when hall is out as he becomes more of a target

I have Rich, Beams and Otten in the mids, only two of these players can start on the gound. My heart says Beams but my head says Otten playing Melbourne.

Rich is obviously a given.

Who do you think is the better option, i need an unbaised point of view, because im looking through black and white glasses.

Exactly same position as you mate. Need to pick two of them three players as well. You probably won't want to hear advice coming from a crows supporter but without being bias i will go Otten and Rich. Otten's lowest score this year is 62 against Geelong out of 4 games whereas Beams lowest score is 46 out of 3. Both coming from the previous round. I think Otten would be safer against the dee's.
