I know 2 1/2 days is a long time to bat out (especially for a team that made just 98 in the first innings), but a few questions:

  • Should we play for the draw?
  • Is it 'Un-Australian' to play for the draw?
  • Do our batsmen have the patience/skill to play for the draw?
  • Does Ponting have the guts to disregard the potential critics (media, fans, opposition, etc.), override his own pride and ego, and implement a "play for the draw" plan for the remainder of this Test?

Its either lose or draw. IMO its less Australian losing than it is playing for a draw, giving us a chance of reclaiming the Ashes. Bit of a stupid question IMO. I for 1 would be proud of us if we managed to bat for 2.5 days.

But point 3 is the main one

Gotta play your natural game. Maybe put a few shots in the locker - say, "I'm not playing the x shot today" if you have a glaring weakness, but your best bet for staying out there longest is to play your natural game.

Not saying it'll work. We have a very aggressive batting line up, but that's what has to be done. The team has been selected, they now need to go and play their game.

When did all this fairy behaviour in the field start? Regulation stop by Pietersen in th egully and the guy next to him has to touch hands to say well done?? Pathetic. Its like all that stupid glove punching when someone ducks a bouncer or scores a single.

Hughes looking good, hopefully he goes on with it but looking solider in defence, apart from one dreadful swipe.
