Hawthorn top4 or premiership side is laughable

6th -10th like the last two years

North and those Dees the teams on the rise
Laughable?

I'd suggest your post is.

Any club with the top end talent of Hawthorn is capable of a top 4 finish, and in 2010 we showed great form against the teams that you suggest we'll get nowhere near in 2011.

Yawn.

You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?

For the past two years, we have been hearing the same thing over and over again. And yet, you have performed just like any other club that doesn't have the cattle to finish top 4, let alone Premiers. Just because you won the premiership in 2008, doesn't mean you can freeze time. Back then, you had a well tweaked game-plan, which IMO, made the individuals in the team look better than they actually were. Since then, that game-plan has been figured out, and your individuals have been forced to battle it out... only to not deliver on what they were assumed to be capable of. As a result, the rest of the competition's heavy hitter's have surpassed you.

When taking history into consideration, any ladder with Hawthorn in it's top 4 is laughable. Livin' off your past, like any one-hit-wonder of yesteryear.

You know what they say. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck... then it probably is a duck.

You can continue with your bias now. (inb4 umad.)

I think youll find that if hawthorn is playing near there best they are a top 4 team, as shown second half of last year, its really just how consistent youll think theyll be next year and a lot of people think they will be. Thats why they put them top 4.;)

1. Hawthorn
2. Collingwood
3. St Kilda
4. Fremantle
5. Geelong
6. Western Bulldogs
7. Carlton
8. Melbourne

9. Adelaide
10. Sydney
11. North Melbourne
12. Essendon
13. Richmond
14. Brisbane
15. Port Adelaide
16. West Coast
17. Gold Coast

I think even Hawthorns naysayers (me included) will agree you have a team on paper that can contend. I just don't see that team being able to put an entire season of top level footy together at once. I see you slumping often enough to keep out of the top 4 while at the same time being capable of challenging the best teams in the league on your day.

1. Collingwood
2. Bulldogs
3. Fremantle
4. Hawthorn
5. Saints
6. Carlton
7. Geelong
8. Sydney
9. Melbourne
10. Adelaide
11. Kangaroos
12. Richmond
13. Port Adelaide
14. Gold Coast
15. Brisbane
16. West Coast
17. Essendon

Think the ladder next year will change a bit more than over the last few years. Im expecting 2011 to be a bit like 2007 in which a few teams jumped up and down.

Collingwood
Hawthorn
Adelaide
Fremantle
Geelong
St Kilda
Melbourne
Western Bulldogs

North Melbourne extraordinarily stiff. I would expect them to be definite finals contenders the year after but just cant see them winning more games than any of the others ive put in that top 8. :thumbsu:

1. Collingwood (still best team in 2011, but not by as much)
2. Bulldogs (huge improvement from younger players)
3. Sydney (will continue improvement from 2010)
4. St Kilda (still a top 4 side)
5. Hawthorn (good top players, but still behind the others)
6. Fremantle (good young side, but well behind the best teams)
7. Melbourne (continues improvement, could well finish higher)
8. Geelong (starting the rebuild, still way too good a side not to be a finals side)

9. Adelaide (unlucky to miss out, exciting young side)
10. North Melbourne (again unlucky to miss, still rebuilding)
11. Carlton (could finish as high as 5th, but lack the quality depth to be consitent)
12. Gold Coast (some quality there, it all depends how well they gel as a team)
13. Richmond (some improvement here, some young quality here)
14. Brisbane (will continue the slide, the young players will take over at seasons end)
15. Port Adelaide (just not enough quality in the list)
16. West Coast (will finish in the same position as last year, but there are now 17 teams)
17. Essendon (not enough quality, coach not ready to coach, will struggle)

1. Collingwood
2. Fremantle
3. Sydney
4. Hawthorn
5. Carlton
6. St Kilda
7. Bulldogs
8. North Melbourne

9. Geelong
10. Adelaide
11. Melbourne
12. Port Adelaide
13. Gold Coast
14. Richmond
15. Essendon
16. West Coast
17. Brisbane

2. Bulldogs (huge improvement from younger players)
