Make a grand final? You need talent to do that and after NicNat, Shuey, Ebert, Selwood, Le Cras, Kennedy and Swift it ends.

By the time your young players are matured Cox, Glass, Embley and Kerr will be retired and you have no players to fill those gaps. As many Eagles and neutrals have said it's the Eagles who are going nowhere at an alarming rate.

1. Collingwood (good list and quality game plan, should be here at the end of 2011)
2. Bulldogs (injection of young talent, Wallis, Libba, Roughead, Grant, Ward, Hooper)
3. Saints (last year as a real contender for the premiership IMO, having Reiwoldt a whole season will help them against the better teams as well, delistings sent a good message... lets see how the players react)
4. Hawks (very good from the midfield up, accquired a solid ruck in Hale and a good hbf'er in Bruce, probably, another young KPF ala Watson would be perfect for their backline)
5. Fremantle (Hill to really step up, realistic top 4 chance)
6. Geelong (will be interesting if their youngsters can step up, they still have some quality youth on their list could again be in contention, need some serious pace injected through the middle)
7. Sydney (could swap with Freo, IMO if Goodes fires for the whole season they could reach 5/4th)
8. Carlton (again could be a big mover, Kruezer could be used as a CHF if Warnock and Hampson can take the ruck duties effectively + a lot depends on Henderson's progression)
-----
9. North (genuine 8 chance, great young players but really need an injection of a pacey outside reciever such as Pitt/Crocker from this draft)
10. Melbourne (one more year outside the 8 for us, hopefully around 10 wins on the board, if Scully, Trengove and Watts take a big step we could be heading for the 8)
11. GC (genuine 8 chance IMO, have a good core of older players mixed with a LOT of elite young talent)
12. Adelaide (these boys could be anywhere from 13-9 IMO, hard to place them, need Tippet and Walker to fire)
13. Port Adelaide (another one in the 13-9 bracket which could finish anywhere, can be a good team on its day)
14. Richmond (more steps, hopefully aquire some more firepower or a player like Griffiths steps up... Cotchin and Martin's development holds the key to their midfield + addition of Foley)
15. Brisbane (have the potential to do more, however with a terrible showing last season, and losing their B&F as well as Brennan, im torn)
16. West Coast (will start their rise in 2013, just not a strong enough list)
17. Essendon (really unsure about these boys, not a great list, but there is certainly some talent, especially in key positions)

Premiers: Saints (finally)
Smokies: Hawks

One of the best I've seen, well done. It's good to see you had the ability to put your team out of the 8. :thumbsu:

Sydney have so many middle of the road players that are not going to improve. Players like Kennedy, Shaw, Seaby, Malceski, McGlynn, Mattner, Roberts Thomson and both Bolton's are not going to get any better. Improvement from the (very) few youngsters like Hannebery, Jack (maybe), Rohan, Bird and Mumford will not take them from middle of the road to premiership contending. They are going no where but a semi/prelim final loss (at best).

A prime example of the ignorant masses. Add to that youngsters list Jetta, Dennis-Lane, Reid, Johnston, Tom Mitchell. And Kennedy is only 22, so to say he's not going to improve is silly. We're building the best midfield in the comp. We won games this year on the back of some of our youngest player. Look to our top 10 b&f this year for proof.

We had major long term injuries to our most important forward, and multiple other veterans and we still came 5th. If they manage to stay healthy we will be a contender in 2011.

Meanwhile, the Eagles can look forward to wooden spoon contention for the forseeable future.

The idea is something like:
Cox replaced by Nic Nat
Glass replaced by Eric Mackenzie
Embley doesn't have clear replacement type-wise, may draft for it this year. Plenty coming through who can play his position though.
Kerr replaced by Shuey

I don't think we have the Freo situation where they really need their young kids to come good while Pav and Sandy are still going strong. We were always going to lose our really senior players before the next real crack at the premiership.

Sydney haven't done the bottom out rebuild like we have / were pretty much forced into, but they have drafted well so should be in an ok position going forward. The hope of the Eagles supporters is because we have so many young kids coming through and getting experience at the same time we have a pretty good chance of going right to the top when they mature in the long term.

Such arrogance from a supporter of the wooden spoon side. Please tell us all who's going to be taking West Coast to their next flag.

Nah, that's a shit ladder indie. You've just seen what happened last year and assumed it'll continue this year. That's never how it works.

Agree, it was amazing and very rare that there was the same top 4 two years in a row (2009 and 2010) but three years in a row? 0 chance. Also the same top 8 as last year? Stupid ladder.

It's not arrogance it's truth. You may not believe me but I have a good record of calling things like this.

1: collingwood-no brainer, best list in the comp(hate to admit it)
2: StKilda-they will be out for blood after 2 consecutive grand final losses
3:hawks-this is the year they will pull it together
4: geelong-too much class to slide further down
5: dogs-always a contender, still a pretty good list but will slide in years to come
6: swans-very solid list, well drilled and should play finals
7:north-underated young list that will improve with petrie, ziebell and anthony returning from injury plus cam richardson(get on him for dt)
8:freo-exciting young list but i feel this year they over-achieved and this is where they belong
9:demons-not enough experience but they will be there in 2012
10:crows-lacking class to make the finals
11: blues-too reliant on their number one picks, need a kpf to kick 40+goals
12: port-this seems about right
13:tigers-improving
14: lions-fev,brown and co will keep them out of the bottom 3
15:GC-will win a few but this is a learning year for them
16:bombers-terrible list
17:eagles-back to back wooden spoons on the horizon

lol wut?

We far from over achieved last season. Add to the fact we had a terrible injury list, and touch wood if our list stays fit I would be disappointed with anything other than a top 4 finish this year.

no-one expected you to get near finals this year even some diehard freo supporters were not expecting finals at the start of this year thus you over-achieved

Any chance that flag you win before Sydney make another GF wont be tainted ? Mate you and your club have no credibility.Them because of the obvious and you because of the mindless tripe you post on here. A spoon is enough to send any man over the edge so seek counselling because more pain is coming when the leagues new basket case double up for a second one next year.:eek::eek::eek: Worsfold has turned this club into nothing short of a pathetic rabble where as Roos has left the Swans in better shape than when he took the club over so how you come up with your mindless rants of where the two clubs are at, leaves grave doubts over your sanity

Where did I say the Eagles are any good? At least they will be very good in a couple of years where as Sydney will be making up the numbers year after year.

I reckon you're right. By the time we got rid of Barlow, Sandilands, Pavlich, Tarrant, Crowley and co through injury we showed what we where about.?

Collingwood - Although their injury run is not as fantastic as 2010, their fantastic depth and team-first mentality wins them consecutive minor premierships.
Fremantle - Finish two games behind Collingwood, but are considered premiership favourites regardless.
Melbourne - At one point during the season, following a 5-game winning streak including a big win over Collingwood, Melbourne are considered premiership favourites.
Carlton - Finish the season on equal points to Melbourne but suffer a significantly worse percentage.
St Kilda - Continue to play dour, defensive football, but also continue to win games.
Adelaide - Leave many opposition supporters wondering how they just lost to a bunch of young players who they swear they've never heard of before.
Hawthorn - A late charge sees them sneak into the finals.
North Melbourne - Start the season strong, but their young midfield struggles to finish off the season with any sort of consistency.
---
Geelong - Struggle to put their best 22 on the park, appear only as a mere shadow of the once-mighty dynasty.
Western Bulldogs - Following a string of injuries to key midfielders, performances go from inexplicably mediocre to downright awful.
Richmond - End the season strongly, appear to be finals contenders for '12
Gold Coast - Predictably, struggle to find any sort of consistency as players become accustom to playing with one another.
Essendon - Despite his best efforts, Hird and his star-studded coaching panel cannot extract any consistent performances from the players.
Port Adelaide - As his honeymoon ends, Primus finds his team swiftly return to poor form.
Sydney - Gain much sympathy from opposition fans as they struggle to win any games.
Brisbane - After round 8, the media begins to question whether or not the appointment Voss is one of the greatest mistakes in the history of the AFL.
West Coast - Pressure from the media and supporters mounts following a 10-game losing streak and Worsfold is sacked.

read what you just wrote again and you will realise it makes no sense and is terrible english. you are justifying my point once sandi and barlow were out of the team you were a lot worse. we even beat you round 18 very comfortably. I like your list don't get me wrong but I just think freo will not be as good next year with everyone paying much closer attention to them and you will not get the dream start of wins as you did this year. but i would be happy to be proven wrong, all we can do is wait and see.

im shocked at anyone who thinks we will go backwards next year. we will definetly improve or at the very least equal our position this year at 9th. We had a horror run with injuries and only missed finals on percentage. we welcome back into the side anthony ziebell and petrie arguably all in our top 5 players. so im interested in hearing as to why you think we will finish 2 spots lower next year aswell as the reasoning behind carlton finishing 2nd and collingwood 7th. i take it you didnt watch the AFL this year or your a 7year old
