Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Should I bring in Curow?

My Mid rookies are Heppell, Harris, Swallow, Liba, Gaff, Bewick.

I have Hibberd in the backline but he allows for MPP, plus he might come in this week with Myers to miss.

Personally, I'd get rid of Bewick. I'm likely putting the gun to Conca and Bewick for Libba and Curnow.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Need some advice

Swan Judd A.Swallow J.Selwood Libba Curnow (Harris, Swallow, Conca)

i need to trade out Selwood, but who should i bring in? Dont really need a premium as i am looking for a cash cow to upgrade one of my forwards

Any help?

Why do you need to trade out Selwood? I'm not fully in favour of doing sideways trades this early, unless it's with rookies. You have some good rookie's on the field and on the bench too (except maybe Conca). Selwood will come good and you have quite a few cash cows to develop over the next few weeks, so I'd be a little patient.

Who do you want to upgrade in your forward line?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Only reason i am looking to trade Selwood is that he will most likely drop in price

Maybe not a FWD looking at it
But upgrade a rookie defender (Otten, Duigan, Lower) for a premuim

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I have both Conca and Pittard on my midfield bench. Do I trade both for Curnow and Libba? Or do I just trade out Conca for one of them?

At this stage leaning towards just trading out Conca for Libba. Pittard has impressed me so far.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Whats peoples thoughts on Joel Selwood..?

According to Tooserious's salary prediction, if he scores his average from last season over the next few rounds which is 118, he will bottom out around $350K

So, do you keep him as he was a keeper to begin with..

OR

Downgrade to Curnow, pocket the $460K and trade a rookie back to Selwood Round 7 (after geelongs bye round 6), hopefully only costing your $100K at most..? netting yourself $360K and upgrading a rookie to a premium as soon as possible..

Only risk in this is, selwood churns out a couple of 130+ games and only drops to $470k - $500K

Worth the risk..?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Hey guys, have a couple of options either to get 2 cash cows or upgrade Yarren

1) Gamble > Tapscott
Yarren > ROK (was hopeing to get Pav)

2) Gamble > Tapscott
I. smith > Libba/curnow

I could just wait to see if Yarren can keep that up but highly unlikely because it was against GC and they are playing Collingwood this week.

In general I actually agree, however I am thinking, J.Kennedy(swans) to ROK(Swans), Kennedy has been disappointing so far, (BE 126, -$25K, Ave 68) and ROK seems to be over injury worries from previous years. Also gives me MPP with forwards. (BE 44, +$35K, Ave 124)
Other one is Bewick to Curnow, mainly to increase cash flows over the next few rounds, as Curnow should provide more pts and cash quickly

Midfield is:

Swan, Judd, J.Selwood, Cross, Kennedy(ROK), D.Harris,
Subs: Libba, S.Buckley and Bewick(Curnow)

Thoughts.

$350K??

You must surely be talking about his Dreamteam price....or there is a glitch in the Tooserious Matrix.

If he averages ~110-ish next two games, I would expect him to shed about $100K to around $475K or thereabouts.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Whats everyone think of trading out Jolly for Mcevoy...Jolly is really burning me.

Had McEvoy all pre season but went with Jolly last min and am now regreting it.

P.S my other ruckman is Sandilands.

His price may drop, but he's still a premium and one you'd likely look at keeping in your side for the year.

Look at it this way, his scores may be down for another week or two after recovering from being knocked out. Another premium may score 20-30 points more for the next week or two, but after that his scores will be comparable. So for an extra 60 points you lose a trade.

With your rookie's, their price is likely to rise so I'd wait with them too.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Ok really in need of some help here...

My backline is : Gibbs, Grimes, Heppell, Bruce, Lower, Pederson and Everitt..EMG: Buckley, Toy and Hibberd...

Everitt needs to go!!!!!!

So with my MIDS being: Swan, Judd, Goddard, Cotchin, Selwood and Sylvia...Do I trade one of (looking at sylvia or even Judd) for Curnow, then uprage Everitt to someone like Enright, and still have cash, or trade everitt for suckling? I think I really need another premium but also don't know who to trade out of the mids....HELP!

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I did the trades to get Curnow and Libba. Basically because with their first two rounds, I know their value is gonna go up more than the other rookies. Simple. Still got 22 trades left and this is the week before the prices rise, so I did what was the best value for money.

If anyone is interested, one of those was Hamish Hartlett (interrupted start to the year, still think he'll score well, might grab him later) for Curnow (got some bucks AND some scoring!) and Atley for Libba. Atley is very underwhelming SC-wise so far.

If you were going to do the trade, you'd trade Selwood before his price drop.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Although I'm likely to do a similar trade, why would you commit the trade before Thursday or Friday? What if Curnow does his knee in training or Libba is benched because of a bit of a sore ankle?

Although unlikely with Curnow, some have made a good observation that if Libba is a little sore, why risk playing him against GCS when they could give him two weeks off. If this does happen, you then could've waited a couple of weeks to bring in a cheap rookie when you may be upgraded another cash cow to a premium?

I just think people should wait until Thursday or Friday before making their trades.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Is it too early to trade out Smith/Puopolo for rookies that are playing?

Even if I just traded the one, which would is more likely to start?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

To get Ed Curnow or not is DOING MY HEAD IN!

As mentioned by fellow BFers job security could be an issue in near future. Could he go missing vs Pies, Bombers and Crows? Or is he this years version of a Barlow-ish type player?

Where is my crystal ball!?

Agreed!!
I wouldn't mind trading Atley out for either of Curnow or Libba but:
1. Which one has more scoring potential
2. Job Security

Is this a real possability ??? I would be a happy chappy if he was held back a week, as I could do Martin (Melb) + Tapscott (main target) in for Smith and Coad, then hold off on an Atley to Liba trade until required. It would mean all my bench players are playing rookies (Lower, Toy, Martin, Harris, Liba, Swallow, Richardson, McKernan, Tapscott) so I will be able to cover any minor suspensions/injuries and have plenty of cash cows for later upgrades.

I have Curnow already, but I actually see Libba as a safer bet as he is already playing a significant role in a relatively full strength Bulldogs side (which I am damn surprised about as I thought as I thought he would struggle to do anything more than play a cameo for a couple of games). Curnow has McLean in the Ants who plays a similar inside role, so there will be direct competition for his position once he is fit.
