One is beating Richmond and another is beating Richmond in an elimination final after finishing 9th.

Yes, definitely. Having 3 mature 1st rucks didn't work but it's time to get a teenager who will be ripe to take over from Warnock when Kreuzer is around 27yo.

Not really fussed whether we get a Tall or a Short, a Mid or a Forward.

The one thing I do want though is for the player to be fully committed and have a real desire for the contest and a winning mentality.
We got that last year with the 4 boys we recruited.

It's just too hard to build those components in, if they weren't there in the first place.

Indeed. But let's face it, our 'best available' draft pick has been passed over 14 times. (twice in the mini-draft and a dozen times in the ND). Why did he slide to pick 13? Because he has flaws like any other player.

So we're dealing with a potentially elite midfielder, with limitations that saw him slip out of the top 10 ranked junior onballers or a promising forward who mightn't be a Carey or a Franklin but is a key part of our structure for the next decade...

ifs, buts, maybes..... why did Beams, Fyfe, Hanneberry slide? Yet they have almost become the elite of that year and were all taken in the second round iirc.... Its a midfielders draft and whoever we get at 13 will be a very very good player and should almost play straight away.

Take advantage of what there is not what there isnt.

If anything i feel we need another talented KPD, Hendo n Cas up forward is fine by me.... albeit his kicking needs to improve. Bruce would of been a nice get.

I think 39 would be too early to be drafting Brown. He's not quite a KPF & not quite a ruckman. I guess he is a poor man's Vickery. I would look at him with a late pick or even in the rookie draft, if still available. I would hope at 39 we could get someone who is a definite KPP or a definite midfielder.

I think we all had our hopes pinned on Hourigan at 32.... with the 7 spot slide for everitt lets just hope he is still around with teams going gangbusters on all the mids...

I wanted Salem as our Mil Hanna of this generation, however found out he is a ferral Essendon supporter. We'll just have to keep waiting for the next Mil Hanna

Sure would. At the moment there seems to be around 18 players that are regularly sitting in peoples top 20.

Players that are unlikely/won't to fall to us:
Boyd, Kelly, Bontempelli, Billings, Aish, Scharenberg, McDonald, Kolodjashnij = 8 players

Next 10:
Freeman, Lennon, Salem, Sheed, Taylor, Acres, Crouch, McCarthy, Gardiner, Dunstan.

Of course things can and will change but at this stage it looks as though it may come out of the second grouping unless there's another Bootsma on the horizon.

Like the look of McCarthy as a KPF prospect, but he could be a bit raw unfortunately. Certainly if he slides to our second pick we must grab him, but not the first round.

I think people are getting excited by the amount of rapid improvement he's made in such a short amount of time assuming that said rapid development will continue at an AFL club. As far as I'm aware his only outstanding attribute is his leap.

definitely with you, if someone takes him before our pick i'll be happy because it will increase our chances of picking up a classy pure midfielder like Lennon.
