If you wanna see a botched draft check out the Dogs' 2009 draft. Massive lols if you're an opposition supporter, crying in a corner if you're a Dogs supporter.
Tutt could make it! And Howard re-signed! They'll come good. :)

Didn't want to start a thread so thought I'd post it here - why do GWS have pick 9? I'm confused

They have a mid round compo pick that was pick 11, but with Adelaide and Essendon out of the first round it got bumped up to 9. They traded for it in 2011, and got it from Gold Coast. I can't remember why Gold Coast had a mid round compo pick though.

Port choosing Butcher and Moore at 8 and 9 is pretty bad.
They did get Pittard later in the draft though.

every team in the league would have picked butcher at pick 8 or 9. still an excellent prospect who hasnt been able to get his body right enough to have a pre-season much less stay on the park throughout the year. if he can get his body right he can fix his poor kicking enough so that its not as bad (wont ever be a great kick). as ive mentioned before his kicking looks like he grew up with tight hamstrings and didnt straighten out his leg as he kicked. now in professional training has gotten his leg right and watch him 2 out of 3 times kick and extend the leg no problem then 1 time he looks to not focus and pulls the leg as he kicks and shanks it. if he can stay on the park i think it will get better. its just about righting bad habits there and just takes repetition and confidence in his body.

as for moore he looked good in his first year then had the dreaded op hit and it took him awhile to get back to fitness and form. once he did though he was smashing it regularly gathering 30+possies 10 clearances 10 tackles and a few goals in the sanfl. now in the afl team and looking like he has the makings of a good midfielder. once he adds some run and spread to his game which looks likely with burgess and moores growth this past season moore can be a very influential midfielder for port adelaide.

but hell , don't let the truth get in the way of your one eyed hatred of port players though.

Any time a crows supporter comments on port its due to hatred etc.
I simply looked at the 2009 draft in relation to the post about the bulldogs and saw that Port got those two at 8 and 9. Now by anyones logic having two top 10 picks that arent best 22 means that you've failed with those picks. I dont see how that is hard to fathom?

Also, half of butchers problem is his ball drop. Sometimes the bloody thing is sideways by the time it hits his foot. But hey if you're happy to draft 'project players' in the top 10 then go for it.

Just noticing that Talia, Fyfe, Lewis Jetta were in the 10 picks after, you got gipped.

1. moore is best 22. played 17 games after coming into the side early in the season.

2. butcher has been in the 22 almost as often as he has been fit , which hasnt been very often. as a 22 year old key forward who came to the club with stress fractures in his back so couldnt play or train for the first 9 months of his career you are judging him pretty harshly.

writing off two 22 year old players as failed draft picks is silly. saying they are not best 22 is factually wrong in moore's case and ignoring the fact butch is a young kpp getting over some serious injuries.

pointing out better players drafted in the next dozen picks after picks 8 and 9 could be done in any year in drafting. are you new to this? you dont think that better players were drafted after john meeson? of course there was. there is always going to be better players taken at later picks because its not an exact science. people arnt an exact science. port have made drafting mistakes (all clubs have) but you are wrong on this call. get over it.

The difference is I'll admit when we made bad picks, you just defend your players blindly.
Butcher was NOT best 22 in 2013. You looked a much worse side with him in.

Moore may very well be, but he's not exactly cemented a spot. He also hasnt shown too much other than being 'solid'

If roles were reversed you'd be laughing and saying the same thing I am.

We've drafted some horrible spuds over the years, Meeson, Sellar, Moran etc...and plenty worse going back a while.

Anyway back to the topic.

Crows are apparently interested in Pods or Gumbleton for key forward depth.
Considering our administration are morons and we have no picks worth anything, could anyone suggest a trade that both parties would be interested in?

Untouchables: Crouch, Dangerfield, Sloane, Walker, Talia

defending my players blindly would be making remarks that cant be substantiated, like

''but he's not exactly cemented a spot. He also hasnt shown too much other than being 'solid' ''

or

''You looked a much worse side with him in. ''

which are just your opinions. (you haven't even given any evidence to support your opinions)

i used facts like

''played 17 games after coming into the side early in the season.''

and

''key forward who came to the club with stress fractures in his back so couldnt play or train for the first 9 months of his career''

''pointing out better players drafted in the next dozen picks after picks 8 and 9 could be done in any year in drafting''

So to sum up your argument your opinion is those players suck and better players were drafted later. got it.

I'll take my reasoning and logic over your opinion any day pal and we can agree to disagree because you aint gonna sway anyone to believe what you believe unless they want to believe it, in which case they will swallow whatever you tell them and have fun with that if that's what you want.

Andrew Walker is apparently bluing with Malthouse. Any legs to this rumor? Would love to see him traded Adelaide's way.
Even though Melbourne don't need any more forwards, I accidentally read that as: "Taylor Walker is apparently linked with Melbourne"

I wet myself at the thought, I love him haha. But he'll be a Crow for life. :)

Don't bother with that joker Philthy, it aint worth the wear on your fingers to do the typing.

And yet these Crows supporters still think they can offload someone like Jaensch and Petrenko for something decent in return.

Three way trade involving Essendon, Bulldogs and Saint.
Saints get: Pick 22
Saints lose: Dal Santo
Essendon get: Dal Santo
Essendon lose: Crameri
Dogs get: Crameri
Dogs lose: Pick 22
Pretty even trade I reckon but I did hear an Essendon supporter saying they would give up Myers and Pick 22 for Dal.

Pods is a delisted free agent. Gumbleton would require a 15 to 22 player to a normal team but no doubt Essendon will be asking for Danger

Maybe add in Myers and send #37 from St Kilda to Essendon.

Also Saints to pay $100k a year of Dal's salary for 3 year contract.

Which have said that?
Your club is the one thats asking about Petrenko. Theres a reason we went hard at Betts and thats becuase Petrenko stinks, so I dont know who you've been speaking to.

And its hilarious that in the same post you condemn crows supporters for overrating their players, you support one of your fellow supporters who still think Butcher and Moore are the guys to carry your side to the top 4 and beyond.

The fact is they were draft busts and he just wont admit it. Maybe in 5 years time when Moore's played another 30-40 games and showed that he's really just a nothing AFL player and Butcher is getting dropped from the SANFL reserves then he'll believe it...or maybe he wont.
