He said Port was his preference, not that he didn't want to go to the Crows. He's still amenable to being here. If we can get him for the right price, we absolutely do it.

I'm just not convinced 23 is the right price.

I would rather take pick 23 to the draft. Polec is a bit overrated on this board, if he was so good then he would have played more than 16 games in 3 years right?

Homesickness and injuries seem to be the main thing.

Injuries usually happen in the first 3 years though, but he has played since his draft season, which shows Brisbane rate him highly.

Neither. We wouldn't have received a pick at all given that we signed Betts as a FA and compensation is based on your net losses.

Now if we'd lost a FA without signing Betts... that is a very interesting but purely hypothetical question. The AFL commission didn't mention FA compensation when they announced our penalties, so compo picks would probably be based on where we our R1 pick should have been.

On the other hand we lose by paying far more than Polec is actually worth. Why screw ourselves just to gain a few childish petty points over the poor cousins?
