I got nagged into joining a DT comp and have very little (no) real interest in these things, but as I am in it I should try.
I have picked a terrible team as it is, so in the interest of looking like I am at least trying, I make my 2 trades each week (though I still have about 8 players not playing each week).
My question is: is it important what position I have my players? Is the scoring different for each position or are they all scored on all stats? In other words, do I need to move Merrett to the forwardline for his 7 goal bag to count this afternoon?

What the hell has happened to Mitch Golby? Start of the year I thought he'd be one of the up and coming fantasy half backs of the comp, next minute he is dropped.

Is there a spot in the team long term for him? Why was he dropped and is it rectifiable? Will he ever move into the midfield or is he a half back for life? Thanks in advance.

Most supporters would say that Golby's main issue is that he makes big errors too often. I'm not sure that's why he has been dropped (and to the best of my knowledge, there's been no public comment on the reasons for his demotion). It is worth noting though that Leppa put him in an extended leadership group for this year so obviously rates him in some respects.

In terms of whether that disposal issue is rectifiable, my view is that it is. I don't see a lot wrong with his kicking mechanics and it is worth remembering that he's still not hit 50 games yet. My gut feel is that, a bit like Raines, Golby's been tasked with working on some specifics issues and is in no way a write-off.

His role is a bit unclear, if you go on some of Leppa's comments where he said he wasn't sure if Golby was best suited to a wing or half back role. He played a bit of both last year and even spent time across half forward this year.

I reckon he's just down on confidence and am pretty sure he'll be back soon.

What are Darcy Gardiners prospects going forward? Modest stats, but I haven't watched any of his games so far, has he played well? What type of player is he competing with for a spot? More a Jordan Lisle, Matt Maguire type or a hanley type of runner?

Thank you very much, great summary.

Currently considering Golby (B) and Shiels (C) for Guthrie (B) and Daniher (F) in a legacy UF comp, mainly because I believe next year Guthrie will be reclassified as a mid anyway so will lose his value.

Other factor is, Daniher will obviously be a star, bit as a key forward will he be a Jack Riewoldt or a Nick Riewoldt.

Will wait on team sheets this week before pulling the pin I think..

Gardiner is a tall-medium stopper. He might score ok sometimes but his primary job is to shut down.

Thanks. I need to downgrade both suckling and McDonald in order to mobilise cash and exchange dunstan / Tyson for pendlebury / swan / selwood over the bye rounds..

Cutler and Gardiner appear the only real backline prospects at this stage..will need to play one of them over the bye period so hoping both named this weekend!

FWIW, I've gone with Cutler. He still picked up 40 odd points last week in a bit over a quarter of footy.

Lions rookies are all a bit of a risk if you expect them to play full games week in, week out. Even Aish has been vested.

Is Close any chance of getting a game in the next month?

Seems like we've moved away from him at the moment, after giving him a couple of games to have a look at him.

Ressies bye this weekend too, so it will be at least 4 weeks before he can demand selection due to irresistible form in the 2s with the seniors having their bye in round 10.

definitely take Guthrie out of those players!!!! I get the fear that he will play more mid next season, but it is a win/win risk really. He will be a gun scorer as a full time mid. Personally though I think he will assume enrights role long term and if that happens he is a must get ;)

Hey guys, I have Stephan Martin as a back up ruck in Ultimate footy. What's the go with him? Is he a chance of getting a game or is he on the scraphead? I thought he went ok before getting injured.o_O

Robertson has a break-out game.

Robertson gets subbed.

Now Robertson might be dropped? Come on, Brissy! Give the guy a chance!

Guy needs a rest. Have you seen how he plays? He just about kills himself out there.

He's probably fine this week - the bye coming up gives him a one and a half week break over three weeks.

He only played a quarter on the weekend. Diddums!
