Level Q according to their twitter feed. Doesn't say what rows though, I suspect back half.

Of course all the good seats are gone, given there's no great pricing differential.

Still, beats paying a scalper, and in ten years time (maybe start of our next dynasty;)), you get guaranteed GF tix every year. :)

Might be a stupid question, but if you buy a seat off an AFL member, do they check if you have a membership card?

Yes, I was checked at the Geelong final. They stand just before the turnstile and had to provide my membership card and ID

Personally I think they should check every member. Last years grand final there were thousands of freo fans in the afl reserve yet they only had 55 full members....

What's the consequence if someone is caught without a card? Can you just go to a different gate and try your luck?

AFL members get it better than competing club members. Work that out.

The problem is, the AFL had developed this group of members from the Waverley days, when people joined to get the guaranteed GF ticket (and faster and easier than MCC). When Waverley shut, they'd already established the reserve in the MCG, and don't want to lose it. The waiting period serves as a lock-in mechanism, and full members would scream blue murder if it was ever touched. I was a gold members for years, but when silver members (even non-club support) were able to get tickets in 2012, and I was given a shit seat anyway, I decided I was better off spending the same amount, getting finals thrown in for free, knowing the reserve will only ever sell out for an all-Vic grand final, and that a silver member there is nearly as good as a gold member for HFC.

It sucks, but it works.

Still, most of the tickets find their way into the hands of club-support members, who provide as much value to their clubs as 11 game members. More than can be said of the tickets given to the non-competing clubs, who are addicted to the slutty money of scalping tickets with 'hospitality packages.' I hope the AFL stops voluntarily buying them back, and starts mandatorily cutting them down, such that at least 45,000 tickets get split between the two clubs.

I think it's a risk you can mitigate. I've never been checked, but there will always be times when they're very busy, and you can see if there's anybody waiting, looking official, behind the gates. I'd say take the risk, but it's your risk to take.

Well, looks like I was one of the unlucky 24 pages of pain. No ticket again this year.

If anyone isn't able to attend, I'm happy to pay face value for a ticket. I'd also feel really bad for you because I can't think of any reason that I would give a ticket away to a grand final we are playing in!

:(

I stood there in 2012 (right behind the goals). Let's face it, none of the standing areas are ideal - you can see ok except for when the ball gets kicked high. no issues with seeing the field though.
More than happy standing wing in Sthn.
It's a long way to look from behind the goals and the tv's were about 3 secs behind.

Spot on. I do like the notion of "members of the competition" though

I don't just attend hawks games, I go to all sorts of footy, even to the point of flying up to watch GC v pies for a blokes trip. If I lost the ability to get a grand final ticket I'd be filthy. My 21 years of forking out cash has got me the right so wouldn't want to lose it.

Once you're a full member and your club is competing, the seat choice is excellent. Glad I've got the membership rather than Kennedy club

Now that you can no longer upgrade a concession ticket to adult this year, I see 2 options.

1. Try your luck, hope he attendant doesn't ask for a concession I'd. If he does, I guess just try a different gate.

2. Have a kid scan out With a adult ticket (from an adult inside) and then meet up outside, kid gets the unused concession ticket, adult gets the scanned out adult pass.

Am I missing something? I can't see how option 2 won't work

Don't want to moan too much but I'm gob smacked to be paying $100 more for practically same tickets as I had 2 year ago.

1 adult and 1 concession for $407 in kk q34. There's only 3 rows behind me!
You can only get 3 rows further from the action.

Anyways, onward and upward (pardon the pun). Will need to make a few sacrifices me thinks :)
