While it's good to see us being linked to players, I'd be perfectly happy to have a quiet trade period unless we can get players relatively cheaply.
We're still in quite a delicate position, not sure now is the time to be upsetting the apple cart. We've got a lot of list turnover happening already- how much is too much?

On a side note- I really don't see the Beams thing happening. Collingwood can't afford to gut their midfield. Lost Ball, will lose Swan soon.

Incredibly that same body of evidence gives Jordan Lisle better stats than Merrett in almost all of those areas.

Now that he's delisted...

Quod erat faciendum. Where does that leave Merrett?

With qualities that you haven't been able to paste in here, I suppose?
No, with many people in this thread discussing his trade value. Within this context, my contribution was designed to demonstrate, by citing his statistical return this year, that Merrett would not attract a first round selection. As I said, we should keep him as a depth player and give him a mentoring role in the Reserves.

When it comes to Ryder, I believe that he is DEFINITELY (see I'm being definitive) leaving Essendon.

But I also believe (Not definitely) that the same word that IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch, said 21 years ago will be repeated....

SYDENEY....

Gazumped again by the bloody Swans!

Surely Sydney cant have cap room. Would love to know what we offered Ryder.

I think that we use our pick 4 this year and dont go after beamsy let collingwood have him and just get paddy ryder this year and save some money for next year and get in early with dangerfield and get him wanting to come here via free agency which he is a free agent next year and use the money on him thats my 2 cents and i just think he is a better player than beamsy and would be happy to see him here

Ryder for Pick 2 suits me quite nicely, but not willing to trade Luey at all for Beams.

Beams is Pick 4 + a mid tier player at most. Anything else could hurt our culture and that is more important than anything else at this stage.

I'd love nothing more to acquire a player from any of the clubs that screwed us in snaring the five sooks that buggered off last season.

The crap we've had to endure from opposition supporters and their veiled threats come trade / draft time would be humorous to turn around, especially if are able to pull it off.
I'd like to support any possible raid on Port for stealing Polec... ideally take Wingard, Hartlett or Gray

I think a growing part of me wants to see Ryder at Sydney.

I'd still get a hell of a lot of entertainment from it but without any of the "what have we done" cognitive dissonance that will come with trading for him.

As long as it doesn't mean Carlton snare Mitchell.

If we could OTOH...

Perhaps that's why I've been impartial to the trades involving Essendon and Collingwood, since the latter gave us a fair deal.

Carlton, St Kilda and Eagles will bottom out sooner rather than latter, we'll pick them off.

The fallout would be epic.

Context!

Well I suppose you'll have to cool your Merrett-Content-Trigger-Finger for another discussion as the club has stated several times that he is not being used in a trade - it's just fantasy.

Until next time.

Can we push for a top 8 spot in the next 2 years, a top 4 spot in 4 years, and a flag in the next 6, with our current list if kept together?

If the answer is no, will one and or both Ryder/Beams make it a yes?

If the answer is already yes, do we really need to be considering one and/or the other?

If the answer is also yes, what would bringing in one and/or the other do? Speed things up? Mean we're a flag chance in 4 instead of 6 years?
