Plus Claye!!!
I think "Ceams" was supposed to be Beams as in Claye Beams. Obviously just hit the wrong letter on the keyboard!
That midfield is looking good though... if they can remain all injury free than finals are a real possibility!

Still need to score goals though, note that our 2nd highest goal scorer this year was a J. Brown.

Agree but great midfielders can help ordinary forwards look ok.

Yeah I suppose it worked for Cloke in Collingwoods good years. I just dont think we have a 50 goal forward at the club and to take the great leap forward we will need a reliable avenue.

What happens with our efforts to land Ryder amongst all this Beams trading?

Do we put up our second rounder plus some? Hinkley spoke yesterday and said he would be willing to give up his first rounder (pick 12-16ish). The last thing we want to do is involve ourselves in a bidding war with Port - I think its simply going to come down to which club wants him more, and at this stage, Ryder might be the difference between a prelim and a premiership for them.

Even if we land Beams, I don't doubt for a minute money is going to be an issue.

A few big variables which may play a huge part in this scenario; ASADA and the show cause notices (including possible bans), the missus' desire to raise the family in Queensland, amount and length of the contract, and consequently, possible bans which may allow a side to secure Ryder for nothing.

I dont know if Ryder adds a huge amount to what we have. I would go after Membrey from Swans, because we have some big forwards but he is that medium leading forward who can find the goals. And he wont cost $650k/year

He'd just be another Lisle or Cornelius. We must target someone like Tex Walker or Jack Darling. Browny absolutely loves Darling from what I've heard, he said he'd love him at our club more than any other forward in the league.

Hi all, I tend to only go onto Bigfooty during the Sept - Nov months of the year. I spoke to a friend who mentioned the following only recently.
- we're interested or going to make a play for Jack Darling. When I tried to get more info out of him he kept saying 'that's all I'm going to say'.
- we will enquire about D.Beams, but as he is still under contract, will try to get him next year. He seemed confident that we could get him his year.
- Patty Ryder is a bonus, but not a priority.
Looking forward to see how we are going to go with trading and drafting this year. Regardless, we should get a very good player with pick 4/5 and should get 3 or 4 academy players.

As I mentioned yesterday (prior to the Beams announcement). Lions priorities are a gun forward and a gun midfielder. My friend who has family that work at the lions was very confident that we 'could' get Beams this year and that we would make a play for Darling. Still have no idea how and why Jack would want to move, but that's what was said to me. He also mentioned that Ryder was never on our radar, but he would be a bonus, if we got him.

Membrey was a gun as a jnr and stuck behind Buddy, Tippett, Goodes, Reid at the swans. He would start for us.

Since we may be going for a Key forward as well, who other than Darling, Walker and Reid would be on our radar? They have to fit the age bracket of being born after 1990 too.

I doubt we would get Walker and if we do it is on the proviso he grows the uber mullet again. It is the source of his power.

Darling is someone I rate as untradeable.

What do you think it would cost Brisbane to get him, keep in mind you are likely to not have pick 4.

Hmmm interesting about Jack Darling. With Dean Cox retiring maybe straight swap for Berger?

We have Lycett, Sinclair and Naitanui with several who can pinch hit.

Thats why I think Reid is the only realistic one because we could do a straight swap for leuenberger

So thats a yes to Berger ;)

Only if it's a whopper.

We simply don't need another ruck that isn't a rookie/project.

I also don't think we'll ever trade Darling. He bleeds WC. Would take an amazing offer.

Personally I don't really rate Reid. But the cupboards are bare for gettable forwards.

He hasn't done much but if we get Ryder what is there to lose? Leuy doesn't play much anyway and Reid might be better when he's actually the target

Can't argue with that, being the key man and having that midfield kicking to you lace out would be a dream, heck even I would kick 50 goals. ;)

I have confidence in our young key forwards. I don't think we're in any rush to trade anyone in although it would be nive to have a couple of KKPs in the same age bracket as Rich, Redden, Rockliff, Hanley, D. Beams, etc.

People saying we will only finish 12 if Beams and Ryder come into the team... Bullshit. They are basing that off this season results when we had Rich Redden Staker and Berger out for the season. Add in Beams and we are a 3-4 goal better team and add in Ryder up forward maybe another 2-3 goals. Having Beams allows Rich Zork and Hanley to play outside. Beams will probably get the tag as he is a goal kicking midfielder which allows Rich and Hanley to bullet pass Ryder and our young forwards gifting them goals.
