Sometime circa 2053:

"Son ... it all dates back to when I was a boy .. some folk beleive that our list management has been haunted ever since that cold autumn night when old man Ratten decided to take Paul Bower over Setanta for a spot on the list... which turned out to be the wrong decision for all to see .. in fact, some say you can still hear the ghost of Setanta throughout the stands of Princes Park on still nights."

There is no way the club will seek to trade Matty....there would be a supporter revolt. The guy is the heart and soul of the club simple as that.

I have voiced my long term concerns re MK multiple times (due to bad injuries for a big man), but I agree. He isn't going anywhere.

And IF (I wish I knew how to write in a bigger font) he can stay fit, we are an infinitely better side.

Hit edit - it's the 5th doodad at the top left near the bold italic thingies - hope that's not too high tech

Jumper tucked in, socks up and a haircut you can set your watch to.

Don't want

Kreuzer and Cam Wood stay. Warnock to be moved on and we pick up a project ruckman now in this draft cas itll take 2-3 years for them to come on at which point Wood will be 31 and Kreuzer 29.

Gotta say, we have got our moneys worth out of Wood. We are 5th for clearances this year and he was our sole ruckman for probably 10 of 13 games. Hes has been a soldier out there and probably had his best game for us last week IMO. Now thats hes not carrying the mantle alone he is being more impactful and his fitness will be way up from when he was doing all the work so he seems to have more ability to run and be a target or help out in defense.
Kudos to mick. He knew he was value. Added flexibility to the list. Enabled us to free ourselves from warnock.

Maybe we should seriously look at trading Yarran for a high first-round pick and get someone with silky skills, ball handling and line-breaking speed. We really need one of the best talents we can lay our hands on in this draft. After say 3 to 5 years with a little bit of luck on our side, who knows, he might become as good as someone like ... like Yarran.

Yeah lets get Lucas

Hendos a leader, KPP coming into his prime. Must sign immediately. Leaving our forward line up to Jones, Casboult and Watson without a leader among them let alone not enough proven talent should be avoided at all costs. There is no point squabbling over 50-100k because you want a little extra buffer in the TPP. Youd be better keeping Hendo than making space to bring in a $1m free agent all day long.

Its ridiculous. It is similar money to Betts. Betts has proven to be a big loss, but even still, he was and is , just a small forward. Surely your kpp command a much bigger coin. I saw the logic in letting betts go. I see no logic in letting hendo go at these sorts of $'s

Supposedly with the clubs offer, they made a presentation outlining the direction of the club and how we intend to get back to the top to Hendo. It's now July (in 15 min) and he still hasn't signed. I reckon based on what I've heard from inside the club and what I've heard from other boarders here claiming to have inside info, that he is 100% gone.

Look on the upside, we get another first round pick :)

He may not have signed because of poor form. No one wants to minimise their value going into contract negotiation. Now he has turned the corner, i suspect we will hear something soon.

Because there isn't and should not be a direct correlation between salary and height?

Otherwise you get Warnock situations.

Betts is, right now, THE best small forward in the competition. Can win games off his own boot. He's third in the Coleman medal tally and only one goal off the bloke in second. To be honest, I'd be comfortable paying the bloke $600-800k the way he's playing.

Hendo is just starting to come good, along with the rest of the team, but isn't even our leading goalkicker. He gives us a bit of flexibility which counts for something, but should he be earning more than Casboult? Cripps? Bell? Armfield? It's a tough balance to find, but performance dictates value, not the other way around.

I suspect SOS and the Board would have had serious reservations about the strength of our list when those comments were made, but with the improved performance from our established players and the successful integration of some of the kids, those views may now have changed.

2 months ago you'd be forgiven for thinking our midfield lacked grunt, pace AND depth, and our forward line had no teeth.

Now we've got too many mids to fit in (Cripps, Murphy, Graham, Curnow, Carazzo, Daisy, Gibbs, Holman, Boekhorst, Bell), Levi's the most accurate kick in the comp, and Armfield, Menzel, Everitt and Hendo are combining really well and creating some difficult match-ups.

I reckon we'll go hard for an extra first round pick IF someone wants out (Hendo or Yarran?), but it's probably not critical. We were expecting a 5-year rebuild with a massive list overhaul, no reason we can't revise to a gradual 4-year rebuild with natural attrition of the list.

Lets see how we go after the honeymoon. That starts this week imo. No doubt we were underestimated and caught adelaide and port napping, plus the new game plan has brought new players into the game- would teams let cripps run riot again without trying to tag him for example?
Bulldogs, richmond,freo,hawks

All 4 sides will severely test our midfield. If they come through holding their own, then i can agree that we have turned some sort of corner. Until then we are one elite mid short imo.

Agree on all points, especially the last. One elite mid short, probably a Dangerfield/Judd/Shiel/Dusty type who can break away from congestion. We've got inside mids and outside mids, but we're relying on handballs to transition from one to the other.

It does reinforce my point though, that we don't need to go too hard at securing extra draft picks, we can afford to retain our better players and focus on recruiting the best young kid available with each of our picks.

PS. Let them try and tag Cripps...mwahahahaha!

I don't want to see Kruezer go anywhere!

But if SOS can get a top 5 pick for him via FA compensation I'd say he will take it.

LOL. kreuzer is our most importamt player. It is no coincidence that our midfield has looked much stronger since he returned.. He has a bigger effect on our midfield and the way it performs, than judd did. Kreuzer just brings the other mids into the game. He has effectively been unavailable for all of mm tenure, which goes a long way to explaining our results
