DELIST

David Ellard - Once a depth player, always a depth player. Can't seem to overcome his history of calf injuries. Been serviceable, especially in the 2011 season, but how he has lasted this long on the list should be a shock to everybody.
Robert Warnock - Like David Ellard, he has been serviceable at times. He has assisted Kreuzer over the years. But in recent times, he has been nothing but a list clogger. And the only thing he can pretty much do is ruck. Not a player known to move around the field.
Matthew Watson - Sorry Cringle. Regardless of how many chances he gets in the remaining games of the season, I just can't see him surviving beyond this point.
Billy Gowers - This is one that I feel like is going to happen unfortunately. I hate to kick a man while they are down, but we are not going to keep every single player we get during the 2014/2015 off-season. Fields and Walsh were always ahead of him prior to his injury. Like Luke Reynolds, only 1 year.
Blaine Johnson - In my opinion, Johnson has too many limitations. He plays well in the VFL, but I just can't picture him having an impact or getting into the best 22. At times, I was excited to see what he could bring to the table. In the end, he hasn't done enough to last.
Liam Jones - It won't happen, given that he is contracted. However he needs to do more than kick one goal. As I always say, there was a reason why he couldn't get much opportunity in a poor bulldogs outfit. And he still wasn't getting much opportunity here. Way below par.

TRADE

Chris Yarran - Big calls have to be made and heads have to roll. Yarran has been a great player for us over time. But now, he it looks like he wants out of the club. Probably trade him to one of the western Australian teams, if he wants to go home. Can't afford to hold onto things as much as we would like to.
Lachie Henderson - Would be great as a defender or we could at least seek out another KPD. Time to take risks, because these same players are not looking to get us out of the current mess we are in.

RETIRE

Chris Judd - Obviously, we all know that he has announced this (or at least most of us still do).
Andrew Carrazzo - Hope he does get a farewell game. A life member and proud supporter of the club. Like the club, he has had his ups and downs too. But if he really loves, the club, he would help by making room for the future.
Andrew Walker - Very big call. Almost everyone is looking past him now. He can't stay fit, and he won't consider surgery on the knee. If he wants to play on, the pressure will be on him to keep up with the rest. Certainly has past his peak, and how much more he can give is questionable at best.

GIVE ANOTHER CONTRACT

Dennis Armfield, Ed Curnow, Simon White - Their form this year should be rewarded. How much longer do we keep these players is the question. With the amount of experience that should be gone by season's end, there is no need to get rid of too much more. The future might have them as improved best 22 players or even good depth for injured players. (Not sure if White is still contracted).

Pretty much spot on, would give Gowers another year though, kid has x factor, just needs to put in the hard yards.

Yeah. I don't want him to go, but its just a gut feeling. The club is not going to keep every single player they bring in last pre-season.

So you are happy with Levi and Jonesy leading our forward line for the next few years?

Too many on this forum do not watch other teams realistically. Kersten a bit meh, but Walker an upgrade in output
on our two.
From what I have seen of Walker, he would be a good fit at CHF for us... possibly even as FF for us. Is a massive improvement on the majority of our second tier forwards. I think that he would work well with Levi as the main target. And looking at one of the videos of his few performances, he can also pinch hit in the ruck.

If we are going to be delisting Watson like some here think... Jones is going to be nothing more than depth over the next 2 years and if Henderson leaves to the Cattery then we might as well think about someone like Walker coming in. If he is going to be gone from there this year (4 years on the list and stuck behind Hawkins and Mitch Clark)... we would be remiss if we didnt have a good look at him. However... he is the grandson of a pussies premiership player so he might be happy playing depth for them.

Can't disagree with any of this. I thought B.Johnson might make it but every time he plays AFL he demonstrates the gulf between the two levels and it's looking less and less likely that he has the goods to bridge that gap imo. I realize as a forward in our side he has very limited opportunity however he just doesn't seem to press up and really try to get involved in the game like others do.

Getting a second or a third round pick for him might be just enough to cover our F/S selections this year
Matthew Watson - Sorry Cringle. Regardless of how many chances he gets in the remaining games of the season, I just can't see him surviving beyond this point. See Warnock

Like Luke Reynolds, only 1 year. I would give him another year on the rookie list TBH... with our retirements and trade outs this year, we don't need a savage cull like the last 2 years

I think that we might also see Simpson hit the retirement list as well. He has been a good servant for the club, but he will be 31 next year and he might be considering pulling the pin... especially when at times it seems that he is the only person in the side who actually gives a shit (although that is changing with the influx of the guys who have been on the list for a couple of years now).

Gee I hope theres actually enough talent in this draft to justify bombing up on early picks by trading our current talent.

For the record...

The draft is very very very poor this year, we have copped an absolute shocker of a draft...

After pick 5 it's a raffle...

No way we can let Hendo or Yaz go, we will get massive unders if we trade them for picks...

I really think we now need to let Yaz and Hendo go. If we can get first round picks for them, then that's a win.

Yes, I know the thought process behind keeping our good players. But we have seen what youth looks like an how it inspires the club.

Murphy and Gibbs are staying. As it seems Kruezer will also. I think we should stockpile draft picks this year and next.

I would consider bringing in Aish and Carlisle. Feel both players have more to give than what they have shown so far. If we could get one via the Psd it would be amazing, but in trading for them, we cannot afford to lose out in the trade.

Skills, skills, skills is what we need. Weitering or Schache is a no brainer. Build both back and forward this year.

The lack of passion last night was horrible to watch. This rebuild must start ASAP.

How would potential "future pick trading" work for us?

Would we consider trading Hendo or Yarran for a club's first pick next year? A bit of a risk involved, not knowing exactly where teams will finish, but presumably Geelong will be at a similar point, while Freo can't get any higher. Would Pick 12 next year be better than Pick 8 this year?

Guys , I have just turned on the radio and they are talking about Troy Menzel as trade bate? Is that right? You would have a few clubs picking up the phone id say.
It is possible... he seems to be suffering from a few injuries this year though which might decrease his overall trade value.

I think that we have more to worry about than whether or not Menz is on the trade table come the end of the year.

Really? Just listening to David King SEN ( not as smart as he thinks he is but still..) he would trade anyone 26 and over. Then if you start trading your young guys..... wow.
Personally , I'd look at Troy Menzel , obvious to come and hopefully play with his brother , but it would depend on other things happening. If we picked up an early pick for Motlop , I'd trade two R1's for Menzel and Henderson.

Kingy... the guy is an idiot. If he had his way, Carlton would be out the door and the AFL could make up yet another new team so that they still had 18 teams. The guy hates Carlton with a passion.

As for Menz... who knows. It could be that he wants out of the club and if that is the case, then the club would be wanting a decent return. If your guys wanted to bundle up two R1 picks for both Menz and Hendo, I am sure that some sort of deal would happen.

Don't be so ******* negative MEB. With our stellar record of uncovering hidden gems in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds of the draft we will be fine! :)
Don't forget our ability to pull diamonds out of the muck in the rookie draft.

**** trading our only quality players for speculative picks.

Hawthorn have torn us and the rest of the competition with quality players not stop gaps and taggers. You don't see a Jones, Tutt or White playing for Hawthorn.
Actually I could see White playing a role at Hawthorn.

And if we are serious about getting things back on track, how the **** are we supposed to do that?

Hang on to a bunch of guys who we have told that we are trading come the end of the year? They are pissed off enough already and doing that will ensure that they continue to play like shit until we eventually do trade them and at that time, we will end up getting **** all for them.

Ohh... and yeah... lets hang on to Yarran until next year when his manager will definitely be shopping him around and the AFL removes the compo picks from play and we lose him for NOTHING.

So yeah... **** trading our only quality players... lets keep them and end up like ****ing Fitzroy... a memory on someone elses ****ing wall.

Nothing against trading 1-2 of them. And especially the headspace Yarran and now Henderson seem to be in. But it's ridiculous to be including Menzel into trade discussions and only for another shot of the first round.

You are kidding surely?

With the limited talent outside of the first round, we should be trying to garner as many first round picks as possible to ensure that we at least get some elite talent.

Menzel has a shitload of talent, but doesnt seem that inclined to produce it on a consistent basis. Kind of like Gibbs... has sublime talents, doesnt produce it enough and goes missing for big swathes of the game. Admittedly, with our forward 50 entries being what they are... I can't blame him for disappearing out of the game at times... after all, who would expect our forwards to be camped in the opposition forward half.
