Anyone read Buckenera's scathing critique of our list in The HUN ?
Its hard not to disagree with it, TBH

Why, because he is one of the worst coaches in AFL history??

Helluva player, couldn't coach his thumb up his nose.

Wouldn't know shit from clay.

Tomlinson I'm interested in. Hasn't proven himself much and I'd part with pick 20 for him, that's it. Plowman has done zero. Yes high draft pick, but he clearly hasn't done well. If we get him, I hope he comes on, but so far hasnt for whatever reason. 20 games in 3 years.

For a club on the rebuild, I'm concerned by seeing people put on here #1 Weitering, then daylight until our next pick. This isn't the way to rebuild. I don't want depth players, I'd prefer to take a chance on picking up a gun with picks 12, 17, 20, 21 etc. Let's not fall into the same trap. That's all I'm saying.

Don't worry, we won't be falling into a trap. Not this time, I'm being positive.

We will acquire an amazing player with pick #1. We will also likely get a first round pick for Yarran.

Next year, we will definitely be getting another amazing player with an early pick in a strong draft. We will also likely have the Cats' first rounder as well.

That's 4 high draft picks. Adding Tomlinson and huge potential with SOS2 along with a genuine star midfielder in Cripps, we will be on the right path I believe.

I see your point, but I think I'd prefer to go the draft. I'd prefer 8-10 top 30 picks plus a couple of father son selections over the next 2 years rather than 3 or 4 and picking up some fringe players.

Been a while since I've been on this forum. Have read with interest the many & varied views. Firstly, regarding Casboult, truth is he'd struggle to get a gig in a good side but given our list & lack of tall "decent" forwards we've no choice but to hang onto him because clearly he's our best option inside 50. Not convinced there's much upside with him but I love watching him play because he has a crack. Hopefully he'll continue to improve & have more impact on games next year.

Secondly I'm torn between a concern about us focussing on GWS's "excess" players & SOS's obvious knowledge of the GWS list. IMHO, early days but Whiley & Jaksch were disappointing & we made the same mistake with Tutt & Jones. (Jury is still out on Tutt though).
I remember many moons ago we recruited firstly Matthew Hogg then Dean Rice two years later. I'd seen enough footy by then to immediately sense both could play & was proven correct. However our "recycling" policy has been poor of late & sadly for me this year not one players name I've read that has been linked to Carlton excites me. However I'm hoping to be wrong.
