i cant imagine wed get both tomlinson and plowman for pick 19??

Not a chance. GWS want something good for Tomlinson. Contracted, former top 10 draft pick. More than 50 games under his belt. If we got him and Plowman for 19 and 20 we've made out like bandits. They'd want 12 for Tomlinson and if we could get a 3rd rounder back we are doing okay.

If we get #12 and #31 from Tigers we might try to use those to get both.

It is my belief that the Lions will get #19 or #20 as a compo pick for Leuenberger (don't understand why they should get that but that's the mail) and they will give that to us for Casboult & Bell.
I think that if the contract is around 350k-400k/year for Leuenberger, then the paddlepops will get a band 3 compo pick... after their second round pick (#22).

I think that if we were to dispense with Cas's services, then we would be looking to get Brisvegas's second rounder and their Leuenberger compo pick.

Henderson -> Geelong
Dunstan, picks 24, 50-> Carlton
Geelong's first pick 2016, pick 42 -> Essendon
Carlisle, pick 56 -> St Kilda

Lose Henderson, 56
Gain Luke Dunstan, 24, 50

yeah i agree, i reckon tomlinson is worth about 16-18?

12 and 31 for tomlinson, plowman and co. is essentially yarran and 20? probably fair enough. maybe if we got 45 back also.

if we trade bell and 38 for 22 and 57,

would we consider:

pick 12,22 (bell pick), 31 and 2016 first rounder (cats) for treloar, tomlinson and plowman?

so essentially: hendo, yarran, bell, 20 38 for treloar tomlinson plowman (sumner, phillips, lamb?) and 57

i would

All these players that Carlton are linked to, none of them nominate Carlton. I mean apparently we were/are thereabouts with Carlisle, Aish, Lennon and now Anderson, but none of them have nominated Carlton unconditionally and are instead happy to use our club as one of many to play off of each other. Meanwhile, Treloar and Aish nominate Collingwood, Dixon nominates Port, Yarran nominates Richmond etc etc with little to no compromise.

It's obvious that not only are we not a destination club, but we are essentially pawns used by players to get a better deal elsewhere. That's why we should not be trading for any players this year IMO (unless they nominate us or one falls to us in the PSD). Take all the picks we can get this year and next year and just hit the draft as best we can. Anything else is a half measure. Our culture needs to be strong to get anywhere, so keep senior players on the list who want to be at Carlton and mentor the next batch of talented kids coming through. No compromises for players who see Carlton as an opportunity to get a bigger paycheck either at Carlton or some other club they have been negotiating with.

I really don't want another season of pain, like most of us, but bringing in mercenaries is only going to see us in this perpetual state of mediocrity.

Listening to SOS on SEN he doesn't seem too keen to lose Casboult. All inquires from other clubs came through his manager, not Carlton. He said he have a discussion with the those clubs and see what they have to say, but he said that after losing Henderson, losing another key forward was not ideal.

Players and their managers will do anything to get the player manager the best commission - it is the way of the world. I'm sure the Club is well aware of exactly where we stand right now...bottom of the ladder with no depth and lot of players hitting the exit button - because somewhere else is better. Hawthorn did it the hard way and scored a couple of double bonuses whilst propping up the ladder o thereabouts..

you need to buld a core of similar aged guns - and move on from there..some of ours have been off loaded for nothing by Malthouse or are now deciding to leave because we are in rebuild.

truth is the Club has been shopping pretty much every player around all year - and we are enjoying the fruits of our labours.

Don't be so naïve mate. We're living in 2015 we're EVERY player has a manager employed to ensure their financial future. It's a free agency competition and the most successful clubs use the trade period to strengthen their list - just as we should do. Get used to it.

Surely now we can just accept Geelong’s first pick in the 2016 draft for Henderson. If not then either Geelong or Carlton are stalling. I don’t want to be alarmist but I just fear we are getting bent over a barrel here. Hope I am wrong.

The Yarran deal could go down to the wire. Richmond playing chicken little.

Casboult clearly being floated just to see what picks clubs would offer for him.

The action on Cas has reportedly been all from his manager, not the club.

i think sos will be interested in bringing in another high draft pick for this year, considering it looks as if hendo wont be until 2016 and yarran no certainty to get us a top 20 pick currently.

if he can bundle bell and cas for a top 20 pick then hed probably look at it...

From The Age today

The Brisbane Lions are a potential suitor for Carlton key forward Levi Casboult. It's understood the Lions will express interest in the Blues strong marking forward.

Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni said earlier today that the club was open to discussions about Casboult, who played 16 games this year for 24 goals.
He is under contract. "At the minute we've got Lachie Henderson looking to get to Geelong so to lose another forward, it wouldn't be ideal. We are happy to discuss, but we'll just see what happens," Silvagni said.

You guys are gonna kill me, but does anyone think we do a St Kilda and trade Simpson (to the Hawks)?

He's my favorite player and he deserves a flag. Id rather see him go out that way, than getting sucked down into the mire of a three year rebuild at the bottom of the ladder.

We might be able to get a decent pick off them too.

It sounded like Cas will stay unless someone was willing to pay overs, SOS knows we need all the forwards we can get (keep).

Interesting to hear SOS mention Plowman and Phillips but not Lamb and Sumner. Would be happy to give up pick 20 for Plowman and Phillip (plus maybe a 3rd rounder coming our way that we need for f/s picks).

Are you mad bro?? As much as he may deserve it, so to do many other footballers who haven't and will not win a flag in their career. Simo has put his heart and soul into this club and is and forever will be a bluebagger.

Realistically no club would give anything of value to us for Simpson.

He is my favourite player too but could see sense in it if he wanted to chase a flag and if we got something worthwhile in return.

We won't, so he stays.
