Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas says he was concerned Jason Cripps' health scare would reopen old wounds, and remind the playing group of the tragic passing of teammate John McCarthy in 2012.

Thomas said he was worried about the emotional state of the Power players during the troubling week.

"For us and our group, that was tapping back into the J-Mac (John McCarthy) moment a couple of years ago, and I was really concerned for Jason and his family and the impact it was going to have on the club and the group," Thomas said.

• Boak should be playing for Geelong the way he whinges and throws his arms out regarding umpiring decisions
• Cripps looks the goods
• The umpires were not as bad as what I have read
• That tackle by Gibbs was not a sling tackle in my book
• Eddie McGuire is the second worst commentator in the AFL, nothing comes close to Dwayne
• Power are not even close to top 4 standard, need to get moving or the 8 will be out of reach

Watch it all. Seen several Power supporters this morning looking very bleary eyed. One lady with a very respectable job even admitted she took to the drink. None of them could quite a put a finger on what went wrong either...they're very confused.

I have spoken to a few Port people and yes they are all very confused...just seem simply stunned about their teams performance. I don't bag the hell out of them like I do to my wife and other crows supporters. But I just question them as to what is wrong?

Was 2 years of fitness advantage then others catch up as I read it on here.
