We are not trading pick 5.

Carlisle agreed to play with us two weeks ago, as I and my other profiles posted.

Ross won't go anywhere.

Hickey MAY be traded if it's an early teen pick with Dogs sending their first, Hrovat and a swap of later picks back. Personally I wouldn't deal with them, they are in our window.

We are in the mix for another really good player, more will come out Monday week.

Will stick my big nose out here

Has Templeton any value? i would rather lose Eli than Ross or Hickey, but then again i dont want to lose anyone, so its just another hypothetical, but some cards must fall and someone will get moved on.

The Bombers would be keen to see Hickey as an option re the trade of Carlisle, knowing pick 5 isn't on the table for Carlisle.
Essendon need picks/players, & Dodoro is on notice to get trades done this year!!
Minch & Sinclair have superseded Eli as the small forward/mid, bearing in mind Eli was returning from a serious injury.
With countless plodders on their list, Eli's run & poise would be attractive to the Bombers.
Our 2nd rd pick & Eli is a win-win for both clubs on paper, though pushing out a young popular player can hurt morale.

Prefer the Don's to accept this year's & next year's 2nd rd pick, than swapping Hickey for Carlisle.
Hickey is a 10-15 pick, or he stays. You sense the Saints would prefer to deal with the Doggies for their first pick.
To go to the draft with picks 5 & 11 is every club's wish, & the two player's drafted would be pencilled in to be in our best 22 in 3 years.
With an ounce of luck, pick 5 see's us draft a 200game + star, & 11 is the pick we can use on a specific need.

Sounds great!
Would it be a swap of 2nd rounders in the WB deal if possible?
Also what club are we in the mix for??

Any interest in Kennedy from Collingwood?

Ross is the Stanley of last year, we are all waiting for him to take the next step. Stanley was playing well until injured, that's the problem with Stanley. Could Ross explode next year and be a gun? maybe for the Saints or Maybe for the Bombers.

Not writing off Templeton by any stretch, but not holding my breath for him to become a 200 gamer.

Happy to be proven wrong.

No chance of Eli being traded out this year. Need more of his type of player. Popular amongst the players.
Best mates with the Weller's

Even pre injury the kid hears footsteps every time he goes near the ball.

Sinclair and Lonie showed more ticker in 2 qtrs of AFL football than Templeton has shown in 2 years.

I hope he proves us wrong but it's looks like a premature handout of poor Andrew Thompsons no.4 to me
I don't blame him in the slightest if he was shying away from contact at times, given his arm break was so bad that it was likened to a car crash incident and he had ongoing nerve troubles as a result of it..

And as much as Lonie cracks in, he had a few moments of avoiding contact this year as well. One I remember (in NZ vs Carlton I think) was when he ducked his head going for an overhead mark, dropped it, got his own crumb, snapped a goal, and was pissed off with himself for the dropped mark. It's natural for these 18/19/20 year olds with light frames to be a contact shy at times until they get enough meat on the bones to compete with some of the beasts they're going up against. Look at Whitfield from GWS, one of the softest players in the comp.

The only 'premature handout' here is you writing him off after two injury affected years.

Not suggesting Eli should be traded out. Just not convinced he will become what some are hoping he will. Again happy to be proven wrong.

As Poyz said, if that happens, so be it. We are here to win games in 2018 onwards, to win finals and build a flag winning list, games in 2016 have little to no bearing on our long term journey.

Mate, this dating of when we'll be winning games is total BS! Who says we have to not win until 2018?

Getting sick of this argument.

We'll be top 10 next year if we get a good run with injuries, and I assure you the club doesn't want to wait until 2018 before it plays finals.

Using the clubs own predictions of when the window will be open is hardly something to get upset about.

I agree I was thinking the same thing today, especially if we do get Carlisle our backline will be pretty solid until the older guys retire (Fisher & Dempster)

In the midfield Dunstan, Weller, Newnes etc will be a lot better off after another pre season.

Bruce, Paddy and Membrey will continue to develop up forward.

We won't make finals I don't think, but we definitely won't be amongst the bottom group next year either.

Wow Ben Kennedy wants out of Collingwood
thats a real shame . Seems like all their kids are leaving the nest . Just proves Freeman wanting out wasn't about the $$$$ . I smell upheaval :D

Ummmm ask Finnis...

You take the opportunities when they arise.

Why do you think the club is trading as aggressively as it is?

I wasn't talking about the potential for those targets to be brought forward or even arguing that we shouldn't take opportunities to do so. I was merely pointing out that unless the club announces or proves otherwise there isn't a problem with using those targets as a starting point.

If you want to argue that our window will open sooner, then feel free. But don't get shitty at people that use the clubs own targets as a guide.
