Have I got this wrong? Why would The Power do that deal unless it involved our second round pick?
GC want Ports first this year and next for Dixon, instead they give St Kilda their first this year and next for pick 5? I don't want to be Debbie Downer but surely this deal has to involve or second or third round pick, otherwise port deals directly with GC? And unless we get a 2nd back from the injectors from Carlisle and pick 10, thats not a bad deal, but not a great one.

1. Brian Speaking told us that Essendon were likely to fold for 2 second rounders, and we were looking to trade up to pick 8. We would then somehow use these picks to get Weller or JOM or both.

2. Everyone was happy about this first part, sceptical about the second.

3. Some reporter tweeted that the Essendon deal was shit and that Essendon have counter offered Carlisle and a 3rd round pick for pick 5 (lol).

4. Age suggesting that we're talking to Port to get their pick 10 and next year's first rounder to help them in the Dixon trade with pick 5. Then we'll trade pick 10 to Essendon. Few people on here are happy about that, few of us still think pick 10 is overs.

5. Essendon supporters still threatening to use their 23 and 25 to trade up to pick 8, but haven't seemed to done so yet. Maybe GWS like everyone else doesn't like them?

6. AFL made up another rule on the go, apparently you can't trade picks that have over 200 points discrepancy between the two trades. Not sure what they plan to do with future draft picks though.
Brilliant, cheers pal. Hectic weekend, kept up as much as I could but then I caved.

5 to Port for 10 and 2016 1st round pick, they on trade 5 to GC for Dixon and GC's 2nd round pick next year.

We then do Port's 2016 1st for Carlisle and Essendon's 3rd round pick.

That then gives us 10, 24, 41, 42 and 60 roughly.

We trade our 2016 2nd round pick for Freeman.

Package up 24, 42 and 60 to Sydney for pick 14 ( they get about another 180 points in the bidding system).

That then gives us 10, 14, 41, Carlisle and Freeman

10: Mathieson
14: Tucker/Hibberd/Clarke
41: Rice
78: upgrade Sinclair

Move Farren Ray and Josh Saunders to the rookie list.

Another day yet another trade proposal for Carlisle being bandied about. My preference for getting Jake is still the deal we originally put forward , but where my real frustration sits at the moment is with Collingwood and them wanting a second round pick and a possible late pic for Freeman when they may get Aish for just pick 26. No one seems to concerned at this and seeing as the last few drafts there have been quality players slide that far we need to be as strong on this deal as we are being with Jakes. Nathans potential value is huge but looking at the problems he has had over the past two years and never having played a game should bring down his actual market value significantly. I think a 3rd or 4th round pick is reasonable considering what we got for Cripps and the real promise he had shown in the same time frame.

Also i was watching Encino Man last night and i thought this perfectly summed up the way Dodoro handles his trade negotiations.

"On the tenth day of Trade Week my Ameet gave to me:

Ten bleating journos,
Nine lies from Dildo,
Eight leaks to the media,
Seven wasted days,
Six linked to the Pies,
Fiiiiiiiive dodgy deals...
Four list spots required,
Three blokes pick us,
Two future trades,
AND a Hawk accused in a tax-iii..."

Enjoy your Monday folks.

I think pick 10 is about right for Carlisle. We need to give something to get something. The future first rounders going to help to get deals done next year of the likes of JOM or kelly. Ideally would like a first rounder this year just to get the talent into the door.

I've always had respect for the saints but since when was Carlisle worth 10 and Dixon worth 5.
If you are in fact 14, you haven't 'always' done anything. You're barely old enough to spell it!

I agree with you, its not fair in that sense. My take is that Carlisle is almost worth pick 10 (not pick 5) and so is Dixon, but I think the Suns reasoning is that Dixon is a key forward, and they are as rare as rocking horse droppings (i.e. us using pick 1 on McCartin last year). And I know the argument is that Carlisle is a key forward at times, but he doesn't want to be, he wants to play back, that drops his value in our opinion, as we got a good one at pick 21 last year.
