What is people's thoughts on this possible 4 way trade??

St kilda
In: Carlisle omeara
Out: pick 5, 2016 1st, 2015 3rd

Essendon
In: pick 10, 2015 3rd
Out: Carlisle,2016 2nd

Suns:
In: pick 5, 2016 1st,2016 2nd
Out: dixon, omeara

Power
In: Dixon
Out: pick 10
Bombers lose Carlisle for pick 10 and have to trade down a second-rounder in a strong draft to a third-rounder in a weak draft ...

The obvious sweetener would require Essendon to give us Carlisle, 23 and 41 for pick 5. That means them adding a second round pick to the third they’ve allegedly offered through their leak. No sure thing given their stance thus far but more than reasonable.

That would mean we’d get Carlisle, Freeman and Rice PLUS one of these guys (if Cal Twomey’s latest phantom is accurate) ....
Harry McKay
Josh Dunkley
Riley Bonner
Clayton Oliver
Ryan Clarke
Mitch Hibberd

PLUS one of these guys at a "Lonie-value" pick at 41 ....
Aidyn Johnson
Kieran Lovell
Brayden Fiorini
Brandon White
Daniel Rioli
Sam Skinner

As an absolute final bid, that would be a win ....
.... and Jake would be saved the slow-drip torture of the PSD for committing to us.

With the Port deal, if Port wants a second rounder back (this year or next), then the above deal would be markedly better IMO.
FYI Cal Twomey only rates ability, it's not a phantom draft, doesn't consider clubs needs etc or take into account academy etc. Eg he has Hopper rated 3-4

Is anyone else considering that Hinkley has already burnt the Power players out & their 1st pick next year be in a similar spot around the 9-12 mark?

I don't think so. I reckon they had injuries early and didn't ever really get moving. I expect them to swap places with Adelaide in the 8. They have some very good young guys in Winged, Wines and Polec who had less contribution this year. If they all come back to their best they will go pretty well. I reckon they finish around 5th.

Honestly, I'd probably do the deal with port regardless. And then leave 10 on the table for Essendon's 25 and Carlisle. If that doesn't happen trade up to pick 8 with GWS.

I like the cut of your jib.
You're hired.

Initially i didn't know how i felt about the port, suns suggestion.
But I went and ate a mango (unrushed) with St Mark and I'm cool with it.

Go get 10 and another first rounder saints, figure the rest out later.

How can Essendon fans still keep up this BS about the Saints "sitting on their hands" while the Hawks "get things done"??

We have clearly been talking to all of Adelaide, Gold Coast, GWS and now Port about trading picks to help satisfy Essendon's request.

****wits, the lot of 'em!!!
That's why they have such a bad reputation in trading. They don't help anyone with any trades, even though it's in their best interest to do so as it would net a better outcome for them.

No wonder there's whispers of Dodoro being sacked after this trade period

Unless Port are going to revamp their whole playing style they cant fit all of Schultz, Westhoff, Dixon, Ryder and Lobbe in their 22.

If their fixture has a few tough games early they could be behind the 8 ball again in 2016 and, being a team that seems to ride waves of momentum, they could be in trouble.

On the flip side, if they open with Melbourne at the MCG again ala 2013...

I prefer Hisham Kerbatieh than Rioli he is a very accurate kick and very solid. He is like Puopolo. Rioli has some smooth moves but he's a bit messy, he reminds me of Daniel Motlop who had some mad skills but just sprayed the ball too much.

Oliver and Clarke from the first group look like solid 100 games plus players with a chance of being even better than imagined. Knightmare has them 7 and 8 on his power rankings straight after francis.

I don't understand all of these hypothetical deals to appease the Bombers. All we needed to do was show Carlisle we were trying to be fair and reasonable, which Friday's offer did. Once they knock that back, we should stop dealing with them and move on with our lives. We've got other deals to get on with, and we'll see Carlisle at the PSD.

I'd laugh if we offered the Dons 10, they rejected it and we got Carlisle in the PSD.

If Matho is the player we wanted at 5 and we get him at 10, then we'd essentially be turning a 2nd rounder into a 1st next year. :thumbsu:

One bright side of that deal:

- currently, if Dodo declines and we head to PSD, we'll likely hold 5 until the end given it will be ongoing. Sure, pick a gun. But the gun might be Matho
- under that scenario, if Dodo declines, we have the two picks. Take Matho (hopefully) and get a free first rounder ( minus what we need to throw to Port to even up the pick 5 swap).

Hmmm

  • So 5 for 10 and 2016 first rounder
  • 10 and 3rd rounder for Carlisle and 25
  • 24 & 25 for pick 8
  • 2016 2nd rounder for Freeman
Get Carlisle, Freeman and end up with more first round picks then what we started with... sounds allright! :)

This is my thinking.

IMO we have to keep pick 10 if that deal happens.
