Its a smart move by the Saints chasing Freeman ! Collingwood were so concerned with chasing Treloar and Aish they forgot to secure there own back yard. GWS will want an early pick for Treloar so we will have a strong bargaining position if Freeman nominates us. From what MG is suggesting Freeman is not getting on with someone at the Pies possibly Figjam!

So what would we have to give up to get Freeman? Where would Freeman fall in this years draft probably most like Hopper so perhaps in top 10?

I can see Collingwood wanting a 1st round pick it will be a master stroke to get him for any less!
Don't think the Pies would care about Freeman if they got Aish and Treolar mate... lol

Im really not getting the Jake Carlisle love thing .
Surely if a tall defender is a must lets go to the draft a find one .

If it were that easy we wouldn't be having to throw $700k to fetch one

Carlisle completes our spine, that is huge for us

Talia was given a bath by Hardingham today. Doggies would've locked him up if he was any good, they're as desperate as us for a future KPD

Would have him on the list for further development/back up, but at not much cost

Agree. I'm not too keen to give up much for Carlisle, but at their best this spine will have 5 AA quality players

Goddard
Carlisle
Armitage
Bruce
McCartin

Add in Longer as an A Grade talent in the ruck and adding Carlisle will mean we have brilliance in the 6 hardest positions to fill.

You are correct to a point. Whilst being front runners for Aish and Treloar (& maybe Kreuz still) would mean that they win trade week regardless - it will almost definitely have a knock on affect.

My thoughts, rumour is that Scharenberg and Aish keen as to play together. Pies offer Aish 350-400k. Any coincidence that Scharenberg then has his manager go to other clubs/the media asking for 350-400k, eventually resuming talks to stay with Pies, better contract on its way.

Then if the highly rated but injury prone Scharenberg can get good money, Freeman comes out and considers his future - wanting a better contract.

Then you look at draft picks, they are getting good guns sure but they are still missing a couple of years of early draft picks also.

As for Freeman, if he is as good as he is being touted, would Nath Wright be a good trade? Freeman is no Kelly, Aish, Carlisle, Bennell, etc - I wouldn't give a first or second. In reality Marky hasn't got any currency, but White/Wright might.

Obviously with the lack of depth/quality in this years draft the club have made the decision to trade in players that arent in the draft. I get the impression the club wants to fast track our improvement and we hope they dont have to give up too much - but in reality you good players from other clubs cost!

No, they just felt their side was better if they chose him of those 4 to go forward as they had too many key backs.

Also had Bomber as coach .
I think Carlisle is average for a CHB .
Essendon rated him behind Hurley , Hooker , Fletcher for a reason.

Freeman is a top 10 pick, we care about him a lot. There's a 0% chance Freeman is going to walk out on the club, the only way he goes to the saints is if you guys offer a fair trade... anything above pick 20 is a joke, despite his injury concerns.

I'm happy to get him as long as we don't give up to much to do that

Wright would be too much IMO. Collingwood won't be in a position to demand anything near his worth if Freeman decides to leave. 3rd rounder, or White/Siposs is all i would throw them

Could we consider shopping Webster & Wright for some picks ?
I like both of them but I don´t think we would get someone like Freeman without some early picks aquired
through trading a few "potential" players.

I really want Carlisle, but if he wants to come to us, why hasn't he stated as such.

What is worrying me, as I have alluded to earlier is that Hawthorn may have an interest in Carlisle, as this is probably Lakes last year, and they will have the cap space, so if anyone who is in the know, please put me out of my misery.

o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Seriously though, Webster will be a great player for us for many years. Not sure why we would trade him for someone who may never play to his potential again.

Was a top ten pick. Hasn't played for two years. If he nominates the Saints you will get what your a given.

If fit is Wright in your best 22?

Siposs and white are finished

If you're offering a 3rd round pick we'll send him to Carlton in the PSD.

It's a shallow draft, even 2nd round picks have very low value. 3rd round picks are virtually useless.

Webster's not going anywhere. He's improving every year and is an important player for us going forward.
