If Bruce has thought us anything it would mean not to give up on white

Given a 1 yr contract and currently playing FB in the 3rds. Says it all really. I reckon his days at the Saints are numbered but another club will take the punt on him.

Players i think MIGHT have trade value.. albeit 3rd round + could be. Lee, Sipposs, Curren, Saunders, Markworth, Murdoch, Pierce, Minchington White, Ray.
Next year one of Holmes or Hickey could get us another early 2nd rnd pick.

Lee, Sipposs, Curren, Saunders, Markworth, Murdoch, Pierce, Minchington White, Ray.

why tip out any of these for a Pick in the 50's?

I wish I shared your optimism.

Lee, Curren and Saunders are under contract so we may get a pick for them however convincing another club they are useful is the challenge.

We would do well to give away Ray, Siposs, Pierce and Minch to help them extend their careers albeit elsewhere.

I'd hang onto Murdoch especially, and Markworth, both have the most talent from your list and have been heavily effected by injury.

Would we think about trading Murdoch to Geelong (to join his brother) for Jake Kolo. Might be able fill a defensive position if Fish or Dempster retire next year?

It might also depend on whether Henderson decides to go to Geelong next year.

I would definitely target Jake Kolo however I wouldn't trade Murdoch, there's a lot of untapped talent there. A third round pick for a player that can't get regular senior games, who's out of contract and a former pick 41 should get the job done.

This is where list management becomes tricky .
1 . Prune hard & look for that diamond in the rough with 3rd , 4th , 5th round selections with a couple of rookie selections .
2. Trim the list using rookie list for best of delisted players and then use 3 early selections in the draft .
I think our list is starting to get that strong depth look about it , I like the idea of blokes like Saunders , Murdoch , Pierce , Ray , Templeton, Dempster , Fisher, Wright and White still being on the fringe in 2016.

I honestly think that Lee, Minch, Murds and possibly Curren out of that list could fetch us 3rd round picks.
Why do it you ask? Because id rather see what kind of gold thems prospectors could find in those hills with those picks. Instead of waiting to see if some of our fringe players might make it after being in our systems for 5 years or so.

Why would we retire Fisher? One of our best players this year and a reason for higher win rate. The same with Schneider, cheap commodity off the rookie list.

This really is an average draft after pick 25, so i'd say very unlikely we make many list changes.

I would give both a fair well game and thank them for their magnificent service over the years. I realise there initially may be some separation anxiety however we need to move forward without them being in our future plans.

Don't think people are saying we want to retire Sam Fisher. It is more just that he may retire, he is 33 and has injury problems after all.

Personally think Dempster will retire , Fisher & Schneider will be encouraged to retire.
Think they will keep Lewis Pierce on list as back up ruckman .
Daniel Markworth onto Rookie list in direct swap with Sinclair
Sorry to say but think Spencer White is gone ( unfortunately ) either trade / delist.
Simpkin will be delisted and be replaced by uncontracted player from another club.
With Siposs think they will look to see how he goes not done yet , because he can kick the ball.

I don't think we should encourage Fisher to retire if Dempster was going to. That's a lot of experience gone out of our back line in one year.

Definitely.

Murdoch would have to have a very good finish to the season though for Geelong to go for that. Kolojashnij is rated very highly at Geelong even though he can't break into the senior side.

Agree to disagree :D

Been fantastic players .
Prefer to see really good players be remembered as good players let's see what happens.
Think they will target a tall ( young ) defender myself that is uncontracted.

And what happens if Delaney (who can't cement a game at the moment) breaks down?

We've made do without Fisher a lot over the past three years, his fitness is a real concern. As Stewart just wrote, I'm confident we target a tall back that's out of contract to fill the void.

Are the Saints forecasting a top 3-4 pick? Personally, I think Gold Coast and Carlton won't go past us with their new injuries.

If you take all emotion out of it then I think we end up with Pick 4 at worst. Probably only the Dees game you'd give us a real chance of winning but that's at the G.
