I like this idea. Think Whitfield will be a very good player. Would also like to see us in the ear of O'Meara. This trade period will be very interesting to say the least
Whitfield will be is a star.

Not sure his "stocks are down" either?

Is he durable & can he beat a scragging tagger?

He looks tall/skinny. Pendlebury sure showed that class counts & that weight can be added along the way, but I'd worry for Whitfield in our Midfield; not in 2016 with Hodge, Lewis, Mitchell & Burgoyne still going around, but in 2017 when their influence is gone or reduced - I'd be concerned that he'd be mauled by scraggers/taggers & that he'd be forced to start on a wing & float into/out of contests rather than get inside & make things happen.

What are your thoughts on this?

O'Meara this year, Whitfield the next would be just as good as Danger.

Definitely winger who floats in and out.

But with class.

Probably wouldn't build a midfield around him, but a player you need to win flags.

Both this year would be better than Danger.

Need a year to build into the midfield, and give Mitch/Hodge another year to test their bodies. Otherwise they'll be sitting at box hill and keeping our other players from getting valuable experience.

I go mad over Angus Brayshaw (No. 10) from Melbourne. One of the most promising players in the league for mine & I'd happily give 2015 & 2016 First Rounders + Suckling for him. (70,000 HFC Fans probably happy that I'm not our List Manager...)

Who do you think is/will be better of these 2?

Brayshaw would've been ours if a certain successful powerhouse didn't recruit a high profile defender last year...:p

I'd say Brayshaw is better than Whitfield, but I still love Whitfield and am wrapt he's a Giant.

I would have thought 2 things

1) if you post on BF you need to be thick skinned. You've been on here long enough to know that

2) any mention of a player involved in the injections program is more than likely going to get a negative response

In fairness to Lips Tyler, I think he was just having a bit of fun
"Don't give me no lip I've got enough of my own"! :p

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat but Melbourne wouldn't. Bradshaw is a gun.

Given how many we roll through the midfield I am beginning to think we have our eyes on someone else who won't command the dollars than Danger or Treloar are. I think we might be looking at another Jed Anderson or Jono O'Rourke deal, raw talent, versatile and doesn't compromise our pay structure.
My thoughts exactly, keeping this team together, with a eye on young talent for the future is more important than spending big and breaking up the band! Smart moves that didn't break the bank got us to where we are now!

I rate Whitfield very highly, but I definitely think that, we should be targeting players in areas where we lack depth, eg tall monster forward, I hope Shem turns into that player , but is to early to tell. Maybe Sam Day from GC?

Interesting that Lake remains unsigned. The WADA thing aside I can see our hat in the ring for
Jake Carlisle.

If we were into Robbie Rareant we'd have to at least ave an interest in Carlisle. He would have to be the best key defender "available".

Take your WADA hat off and it makes sense in a weak draft.

Henderson still remains unsigned, Garland also.

As Tyles mentioned earlier, Carlisle comes with too much baggage: Wada (suspension), Cost ($Contract), Dealing with the Filth (inflated trading price).

Conclusion: No chance.

To me Whitfield just floats and ambles along way too often. At Hawthorn it's all about white line fever, intensity, making an impact etc.. He wouldn't be given games that's for sure. BHH's for a full year with 4 or 5 senior games and then maybe we will see the best of him in 2017 just like Jor , Jed etc.
