Billy Longer was a certainty to the hawks before BB became available. Things change and the club in part would be in the dark on some players as us.
The club has its wishes though and its trying hard to get clarity right now by offering several players big $$ to break the stalemate. That's how it's done.
Throwing big $$ for 4 years to CWs manager as a verbal would be a certainty by most clubs (yeah right chad no one has thrown any verbal offers at you in last 2 weeks even though youre a gun, 1 yr left on contract and your mate Schulz leaving). That might help get clarity, and help push OMeara to us early who Hawks want to make a decision now. Would Omeara, who would love to come to the hawks, then risk waiting incase CW took up the offer? Then GC, who know they'll lose him anyway, might be better taking Whitecross, Suckling and a 1st round pick.
Dangerfields off to Geelong the hawks believe and can't offer the cash of the Cats...but it also might prize Dangerfield to us knowing CW or Omeara could take the coin before him. Is he missing out on something/might question he's decision making..
As a gun player, who wants success, there's only 1 hawthorn with this opportunity to spend big $$ now. Hawks arent waiting to our midfield retiring. Its a waiting game though to see who wants to grab the opportunity first.
Ps Bennell also no interest to hawks unless super cheap...far to loose. That's unless who should know is lying directly, which is entirely possible in the cloak and dagger world of player movements.
