I'd happily do it if they threw in another pick. He is a jet.

A jet who is struggling at his second club and looking for a third before he's 23. More like a cessna

Fair enough. Go to AFL house tomorrow, sit down with Freo officials and see if they will give us Weller on the basis of Black's 2013 AFL form, and ignore 2014 because of injury and 2015 because goshdarnit, we had other forwards and it wasn't fair that he had to play VFL footy at North Ballarat.

I await the results in earnest.

The reality is we will likely be paying someone to take Black's ridiculous wage off the books. He has very little trade value right now.
I'm sure AFL recruiters would be smart enough to look at the bigger picture and look at all the variables. Unless there is some sort of validated classification chart that ranks players on a couple of things. If only recruiting was that easy :drunk:

Every player not in a teams best 22 is now useless...

Thankfully our recruiters looked at the big picture when we recruited Higgins.

I can't get the full article because Paywall, but:

Roos, Suns woo Howe with new role
NORTH Melbourne and the Gold Coast have pledged to turn Jeremy Howe into a half forward or wingman in the mould of triple premiership star Jack Gunston.

**** me, have we got Mandrake the Magician on the books.......

Higgins didn't spend two years looking completely lost at AFL level, and had more than one good season under his belt.

I reckon he just needs a settled role somewhere and a good run at it. He lost a year to a shoulder reco and had a severe case of pneumonia, so it's not like he's just been playing at Box Hill for three straight years without being able to make the ones.

Apparently Howe would rather stay in Melbourne so we might be in the box seat.
I think it could be a good move, seems to me like a player who might flourish in a new environment.
I always thought Higgins was pretty ordinary at the Dogs, but he was a gun for us this season.

looks legit

I dont know much about Anderson but if he has been likened to Kayne Turner in his attack on the ball and man then I want him in North colors!!
Combine this with his skills, pace and goal sense there is obviously huge potential there.
If the only knock on him is some injuries, id back our fitness team to get him right.

so let me get this right, some in here think Jed is better value then Basti?

is that a massive 10 disposals a game I see, wow that will add plenty to our push for a flag.:thumbsu:
Yeah agree seems to be a fair bit of hype around this kid for what he has actually done on paper. Wonder if he was sub in (m)any of his games to lower his stats???? Basti has definately gone backwards. A final point worth considering is what are Jed's VFL stats like this season, and compare to guys at a similar stage of their careers at North....i.e./ players he'd be competing with for a spot, Dumont, turner, wood, even Fordham (garner is a lock for mine). There is no guarantee he'd get more opportunities at North, which is why he wants to leave Hawthorn. Reckon he'd drop the chin pretty quickly unless could be guaranteed starting 22 each week. On that basis you'd think he'd either drop back to a rebuilding team, or simply be patient for his opportunities at the Hawks.

I think he'll end up at Carlton - relationship with Bolton and guaranteed footy.

Thing is, we need his type desperately, and unless we can land a ready made jet (like we have tried with Motlop and allegedly Bennell) we probably need to take a punt on someone with the skills but hasn't for whatever reason put it together.

If weller wants to move back to Melbourne I'd offer our first round pick, couldn't care less about black, not sure the dockers would either, happy to get his salary off the books for whatever we can get......could turn into a star elsewhere but so be it,,,, I doubt he will at north, shown no resilience whatsoever.

Be interesting to see if blacky would get a $$ offer similar to the coin he will be sitting on in the vfl.
Ive often wondered what happens in that instance? if he wants out, but a club pays him less than what hes on, do we pay the diff, or is that More if we want to get rid of him...?

If the other club doesn't want to take in his entire contract, we are stuck paying the difference.
